Following the launch of Virtual Try-On for sunglasses this summer, trainers are the latest product to be added to Amazon Virtual Try-On feature.
Customers can select from hundreds of styles, from brands including New Balance, Superga, Puma, Lacoste, Reebok, with more footwear styles to be added to the feature over the next few months.
Amazon is constantly looking for immersive and innovative ways to make shopping for fashion online easier for customers, and Virtual Try-On is a fun interactive feature that can be used on the go or from the comfort of their homes, to make better, more informed purchasing decisions. Virtual Try-On allows customers to visualise how an item will look on themselves from every angle, while shopping for fashion online.
Amazon have designed their own Computer Vision Machine Learning (CVML) to detect shoe position, orientation, scale, foot, ankle and pant segmentation, through deep learning (a method of Machine Learning, ML). It leverage’s 3D models of shoes to produce the Augmented Reality (AR) experience. Combining the live mobile camera stream and the CVML model, it powers the virtual try on experience for customers.
Customers can discover Virtual Try-On on their iOS mobile app by typing into the search bar “Virtual Try-On” or by visiting www.amazon.co.uk/virtualtryon. If navigating via a Desktop device, customers will see a QR code on the Virtual Try-On page which they can scan via their iOS mobile device to easily land on the mobile store. From the mobile store, customers can find a pair of trainers they love, tap on the “Virtual Try On” button on the product detail page, point the rear camera on their mobile device at their feet to see how the shoes look on them from all angles and in all available colours, then choose the style that suits them best. Customers can also take a photo of the virtual sneakers they’re trying on and share the photo with friends through social media.
