Livingston Designer Outlet has announced the opening of its latest dining and entertainment offering, CafeBar Nineteen62. A family-owned establishment, it will provide an original and bold venue-meets-cafe-bar concept that promises excellent food and drink alongside a regular ‘live’ music lineup. It will be open daily till late.
As its third venue and first shopping centre location, Nineteen62 is set to redefine the culinary offering at Scotland’s largest designer outlet with its recognisable ‘dine or don’t’ tagline. Its flexible offering isn’t defined by café, bar, or restaurant status, which means it is truly able to cater to the needs of the individual.
Spanning 3,789 sq ft, Nineteen62 will offer a spacious outdoor area, ideal for year-round al fresco dining with 200 seats, private pods, and fire pits. A vibrant indoor space features reclaimed wood, steel accents, local stone, and the brand’s signature decorative elements that blend Victorian and steampunk influences.
The new venue will also provide a wide variety of food options and host free live music gigs. From Thursday to Sunday, visitors can enjoy a host of local West Lothian artists, further cementing Livingston’s destination status.
Nicky Lovell, Head of Retail and Business Development at Global Mutual, said, “CafeBar Nineteen62 is a fresh and exciting concept with a visionary owner – we’re very excited as it really plays into our strategy of creating retail third spaces. Visitors need more than shops, and by transforming the centre into a dynamic environment, which creates connections and cultivates customer loyalty, we are likely to see customers increasing dwell-time and repeat visitation.”
Lovell continues, “Nineteen62 offers Livingston’s customers an opportunity to stay later – meeting friends, eating great food or having a cocktail and listening to live music. This moves beyond the standard shopping experience, allowing visitors to foster a sense of affinity for the centre. Plus, with David’s great track record for delivering exceptional food and drink, CafeBar Nineteen62 is sure to be a big hit.”
Originating 45 years ago with the award-winning David Stein Butchers in Bathgate and Blackburn, the brand expanded its culinary offering with the opening of CafeBar 1912 in Bathgate in 2013. It became renowned for its exceptional cocktails, live music, and delicious meals using the finest meats from the family butchers.
With its commitment to supporting local suppliers, the new venue will support local businesses and maintain a strong local connection through using Scottish suppliers including The Wee Tea Company, White Dove Coffee Roasters, Great Grogg Wines, JB Foods, Fife Creamery, and Gateside Farm.
David Stein, Owner of CafeBar Nineteen62, said, “Opening CafeBar Nineteen62 at Livingston Designer Outlet is a fantastic and exciting new milestone for us. This prime location not only allows us to connect with a great community but also provides a unique opportunity to showcase our passion for exceptional food within a great setting and ambiance. We’re incredibly excited to share our vision and create memorable experiences for our guests in such a unique setting.”
