Bodo, the eCommerce delivery platform, is planning to transform the sector with customer-centric 1 hour and same day sustainable delivery. With nearly half (46%) of consumers abandoning their shopping carts if delivery waits are too long, bodo is tackling this issue for brands with its plug-in at checkout. It enables businesses to better service their customers, whilst tackling the growing environmental concern from consumers over how their goods are being delivered.
Following a successful launch of the platform in January, bodo is announcing its $2.3M seed round. The round was led by BAM ventures, alongside Angels such as sweetgreen founder and CEO Jonathan Neman, serial investor Kal Vepuri, and Jon Shokrian, founder and CEO of MeUndies. Advisors to the business include Sumesh Rahavendra, previously an executive at DHL and general manager at Amazon Spain & Germany, and Cameron Roberts, Chief Commercial Officer at Nando’s Group.
The funding will be used to broaden bodo’s technology offering and expand their network of micro-fulfilment hubs across major cities, allowing the platform to service a bigger customer community and expand its brand partnerships.
Founders Jack Green and Brandon Neman are experts in the delivery technology industry and were early employees at ex-Uber founder Travis Kalanick’s CloudKitchens, helping to scale the business from Los Angeles to many international markets. Jack also brings his Deliveroo experience where he worked in commercial strategy and data science.
“You can think of bodo as Amazon Prime for Direct-to-Consumer brands”, said Jack Green, Co-Founder. “eCommerce brands spend so much time and effort building their native channel, bodo allows them to offer a rapid, sustainable delivery experience without sacrificing crucial customer data and control to Amazon or an equivalent marketplace.”
“The current delivery system is broken for both brands and their consumers” said Brian Lee, BAM Ventures, Co-founder of LegalZoom and The Honest Company. “BAM invested in Bodo as it has the potential to solve ‘last-mile’ challenges by bringing businesses closer to their customers and providing them with a rapid and sustainable delivery option”
With 51% of consumers conscious of the environmental impact of eCommerce, bodo operates a network of micro-fulfilment hubs that store products in dense neighbourhoods, enabling rapid and sustainable deliveries. It is setting new standards for on-demand delivery in response to growing environmental consciousness and is working with the eco-first delivery partner Stuart to bring customers their goods in a guilt-free 1-hour or same-day delivery experience.
Bodo offers a simple integration plug-in to eCommerce platforms including Shopify, Salesforce, WooCommerce, Magento, and others. They are currently working with mission-aligned brands including market-leading CBD brand, TRIP, Lucky Saint low alc beer, celebrity favourite AU Vodka, Beavertown and popular sustainable toothbrush brand, SURI, as well as apparel brands like Underdays and Madhappy.
