Manchester start-up The Shirt Society, a subscription model menswear retailer, has announced the onboarding of veteran product specialist Steve Price. He joins the business as Product Development Director, and is one of three recent hires set to expand the product development team at The Shirt Society.
Price has a wealth of experience in fashion merchandising, having previously held the role of Joint-Managing Director at Karen Millen for over 7 years. His credentials also include a Chief Operating Officer position with accountability for product development at renowned shirtmaker Thomas Pink, as well as positions at JD Sports and Missguided.
“As soon as I heard about this unique concept, I knew I’d love to be involved,” Price commented.
“During my time in fashion retail, I have seen the landscape rapidly change as digitisation alters the shopping experience. The subscription model is perfect for men, who are generally less enamoured with the physical shopping experience.”
“The existing products are fantastic quality, which is a great place to start from in terms of heading up the product team!” he added. “We’ve already started to look ahead to new collections for 2021. There are some exciting things ahead!”
Bucking the trend of many businesses in the retail space, The Shirt Society has enjoyed impressive member growth since its launch in April of this year: despite the impact of the pandemic. Focusing on bringing quality wardrobe essentials on a 30, 60 or 90 day basis, The Shirt Society promises to take the hassle out of traditional shopping, and has already been backed by former North West Entrepreneur of the Year, Scott Fletcher MBE, in a six-figure investment deal. The business enjoyed a 200% growth in membership in the period from September’s key launch this year.
In addition to Steve Price, The Shirt Society has also seen the recent introduction of Paul Austin, Senior Menswear Designer, who’s CV boasts work with Jack Wills and Pretty Green. Jade Hussey also joins the product team, taking up a Production Assistant role.
The Shirt Society Founder, Matt Bird, said:
“After such an exciting year for the company, we knew we really wanted to focus on making the very best product on the market. Our ethos has always been about giving our members a truly premium product at an affordable price.”
“I’m delighted to welcome Steve to the team. He brings with him a wealth of invaluable experience in our market, and I am confident that he will be an integral part of our expansion as a business in 2021.”
