The 2023 MAPIC Awards recognised outstanding achievements in retail real estate, spotlighting innovative concepts and sustainable initiatives that are shaping the future of the industry. The awards, which took place in Cannes, celebrated excellence across thirteen core categories, along with the People’s Choice categories and the winners of the MAPIC Academy, sponsored by Nhood.
The ceremony, attended by 230 industry professionals, underscored the industry’s commitment to sustainable, useful, and visionary projects. With a focus on responsible growth, the event highlighted those who are leveraging their expertise to reduce environmental impact, increase transparency and inclusion, and bolster the social framework of cities.
Among the distinguished winners, RITUALS was named the Retail Concept of the Year, while DOPPIO MALTO clinched the Food & Beverage Concept of the Year. In the Leisure Concept of the Year category, KOEZIO & LUCKY FOLKS shared the accolade, showcasing the innovative leisure options emerging in retail spaces. CIRCUIT emerged as the Best New Retail Concept, and HUGO BOSS was recognised for its Omnichannel Strategy, reflecting the growing importance of integrated online and offline retail experiences.
Sustainability was a key focus, with the Best Sustainable Initiative in Retail Automation awarded to the collaboration between DECATHLON and EFICIA for their HVAC innovation. The Best Sustainable Initiative among Property Players went to LIVAT ONE PLANET, underscoring the role of property developers in fostering environmentally friendly practices.
In the realm of property redevelopment, NORTESHOPPING – THE COOKBOOK & GALLERIA stood out for its refurbishment and redevelopment, while HALLES D’ISSY BILTOKI was lauded as the Best Food Hall & Food Court Project. GALATAPORT ISTANBUL took home the award for the Best New Development Project, highlighting the global scope of the awards.
The Best Urban Regeneration Project was conferred to BATTERSEA POWER STATION, a project that has transformed a historic landmark into a vibrant community hub. The Best Retail Innovation Solution was awarded to LASTATIONCOLIS, and the Best Design Store by French Designers went to MAGASIN E.LECLERC, designed by Saguez & Partners.
The People’s Choice Awards and the MAPIC Academy also shone a light on emerging talent and public favourites, with SPARX and WORLD OF POP receiving accolades. In a significant personal achievement, Raymond Cloosterman, CEO of Rituals Cosmetics, was honoured as the Personality of the Year.
