The Perfume Shop, the UK’s largest fragrance retailer, is increasing its commitment to sustainability by launching its biggest perfume bottle recycling service to date. With the new and improved recycling units set to be installed across all of its 211 nationwide stores in 2023, customers can now safely and easily dispose of their empty fragrance bottles while also receiving discounts on same-day purchases.
The initiative, which began in 2018, aims to combat the unnecessary wastage of perfume bottles and confusion around their correct disposal. By partnering with recycling experts, The Perfume Shop ensures that all bottles are disposed of in an environmentally friendly manner, and for every bottle recycled, a tree will be planted through the Eden Reforestation Projects.
Since launching its partnership with the Eden Reforestation Projects in 2021, The Perfume Shop has already recycled over 7,282 perfume bottles, resulting in the planting of over 399,926 trees and over 3000 days of work provided for communities. In addition, the retailer will be planting a tree for every bottle sold both online and in-store on March 25th, 2023.
Gill Smith, Managing Director of The Perfume Shop, stated, “At The Perfume Shop, we’re proud of the excellent work we’ve already achieved as a business with our partnerships and how we can look to combat wastage as much as we can. That’s why we’re continuing to build upon this year on year to make our cause even greater than before.”
