Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield (“URW”) has opened the doors of the final phase of its ambitious new extension of Garbera shopping centre in San Sebastián, Spain following a four-year transformation. The project added over 25,000 sqm to the destination and establishes Garbera’s position as the gateway for new brands in the region.
Building on the first phase of the extension which brought a new dining and leisure complex to Garbera in 2021, this final phase brings a number of new brands to the Guipúzcoa Region of Spain, including sports fashion brands Nike, Sprinter, JD Sports, Munich and Courir; footwear and accessories brands Ulanka and RKS; men’s fashion brand Boston; cosmetics and perfumery brandsPrimor and Freshly; and home décor brand, Maisons du Monde. It also includes new brand openings such as Bimba y Lola, Tezenis, and Oysho as well as existing brands at Garbera such as Sephora, Bershka, Levis, and Stradivarius who have taken on larger, updated spaces.
The project has received a “BREEAM Excellent” certificate for sustainable construction while also benefiting from biodiverse landscaping and energy efficiency measures including new solar panels. The expansion also created 1,000 new jobs for the local area.

The completion of the extension of Garbera continues URW’s investment in its world-class platform, which includes recently completed projects such as Les Ateliers Gaîté in Paris, the new dining and entertainment experience at Westfield La Part-Dieu in Lyon, the expansion of Westfield Topangain Los Angeles, the opening of Westfield Mall of the Netherlands, and the launch of Coppermaker Square, a 1,200 apartment Buy-To-Rent scheme in Stratford, London.
