Poundland is set to unveil a major shift tomorrow (17 October) with the launch of its first-ever Poundland Perks app, available in all UK stores and online. After a successful trial in 100 stores across the Isle of Wight, Northern Ireland, and Scotland, the rewards app will now be accessible nationwide, giving millions of customers the opportunity to save more, earn more, and even play games for additional prizes.

The Poundland Perks app, available for download on Google Play and the Apple App Store, will offer customers access to at least 100 exclusive offers at any given time. Additionally, shoppers can earn perks points for spending in different areas of the store. To celebrate the app’s launch, customers will earn 100 points for every pound spent across all items until Christmas, making it easier to accumulate rewards.

Once customers collect 5,000 points, they can redeem them for digital reward vouchers to use in-store or online, or save for larger purchases. The app also features a weekly game called ‘Spin to Winsday,’ starting on 23 October, where users can win extra points and prizes every Wednesday. In partnership with Unilever, Poundland Perks will also feature six exclusive “Top Perk” deals over the first six weeks.

To promote the app, the Poundland Perks Café will tour major towns and cities across the UK, encouraging customers to download the app. Supported by Nescafé, the café will begin its tour outside the Poundland store on Corporation Street in Birmingham before heading to Wolverhampton, Nuneaton, South Wales, and finally reaching Sheffield’s Meadowhall by the end of November. The tour will resume in the new year, covering northern England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

Tom Hill, Director of Digital at Poundland, commented on the launch: “Today’s a really important day for our customers as we open up a new digital world that gives them the chance to save, earn and play through their smartphone, making shopping with us even more fun and amazing value – whether in-store or online. So far, we’ve already had over 500,000 customers sign up, and we’re thrilled to be launching this across the UK.”

In addition to the app, Poundland is investing £20 million in new technology, including state-of-the-art tills and faster self-checkouts, making it easier for customers to use the app at every manned checkout. By December 1, every self-service till will be fully compatible with the Poundland Perks app, allowing customers to use their perks seamlessly in-store and on the Poundland website.
