The Metrocentre Partnership has announced the opening of several new stores and upgrades within its Red and Platinum Malls, including a 3,933 sq ft store for premium fashion brand Reiss. The investment in retail space, encompassing over 55,000 sq ft of new openings, upsizes, and refurbishments, reflects the continued appeal of Metrocentre as a leading retail destination in the North East.

Reiss’s new store, located in the lower Red Mall, features its premium collection of timeless fashion and wardrobe staples. Notably, it also includes the region’s only Reiss Childrenswear collection, adding to Metrocentre’s diverse fashion offering.

New Openings Enhance Metrocentre’s Appeal

In the upper Platinum Mall, Sosandar has made its regional debut with a 2,047 sq ft store. Sosandar brings a premium and fashion-forward range of womenswear, further elevating the centre’s appeal for style-conscious shoppers.

In Red Mall, KIKO Milano has launched its largest store in the North East, covering 1,624 sq ft and offering an extensive range of beauty products. Nearby, Brows & Nails adds to the beauty options with a selection of professional treatments.

Moss has also opened a newly refurbished store in Red Mall, joining River Island, which recently completed a revamp of its 25,500 sq ft space. Additionally, Mango, now occupying a 6,233 sq ft store in the same mall, provides another standout fashion destination, sitting alongside brands like Zara, H&M, and anchor tenant Flannels.

Broader Investment Across Metrocentre

The centre has seen continued investment beyond its Red and Platinum Malls, with new additions such as ProCook and Go Outdoors in the Blue and Green Malls. Pandora has also undergone refurbishment, and Newcastle United Club Store is set to open soon. Meanwhile, long-standing tenant Boots will begin a comprehensive refit in the new year.

Strategic Growth Through Tenant Investment

Ben Cox, Director at Sovereign Centros, Asset Managers for Metrocentre, commented:
“2024 has been a year full of tenant investment, with our accessible premium fashion and retail hubs continuing to move from strength to strength with major signings, upsizes, and comprehensive refits. Reiss has been a target brand for us for quite some time, and to have them open a store here really demonstrates the quality of our lineup. It is a reflection of our leasing strategy which nurtures existing retailers to support growth while attracting new names that continue to enhance the retail and visitor experience.”

With its ongoing investment and recent additions, Metrocentre continues to strengthen its position as a key retail and leisure hub in the North East.
