The Liberty Romford shopping centre, owned and managed by Redical, has announced that global retailer MINISO will be joining its growing line-up of brands. The 2,270 sq ft store is set to open this spring, marking MINISO’s debut in the London borough of Havering.
MINISO, known for delivering vibrant and affordable shopping experiences, will offer an array of lifestyle products, including collaborations with popular franchises such as Hello Kitty and Friends (featuring Cinnamoroll and My Melody), Disney (including Lilo and Stitch), and the newly launched Harry Potter range. The store will stock a wide selection of plush toys, beauty items, trendy gadgets, stationery, and homeware. This opening follows a successful pop-up activation launched in December, which will continue to operate until the permanent store’s unveiling.
MINISO’s decision to open at The Liberty Romford appears to reflect the shopping centre’s reputation as a significant retail destination. The centre reports an annual retail spend potential of £247 million and claims to attract 13.4 million visitors each year, factors that may appeal to retailers seeking high-traffic locations. The new store is planned to overlook Liberty Square, a spot expected to benefit from the centre’s reported footfall and visitor dwell times.
Saad Usman, Chief Operating Officer of MINISO UK, highlighted the brand’s excitement about the new location: “We’re thrilled to bring the joy of MINISO to The Liberty Romford! At MINISO, we’re all about bringing a little more fun, style, and affordability into everyday life, and we can’t wait for people to explore our wide range of products—from beloved brands such as Sanrio and Disney to adorable plushies, quirky gadgets, stylish homeware, and so much more.”
Daniel Tucker, Leasing Manager at The Liberty Romford, commented on the significance of the new addition: “MINISO has a clear vision of expansion, which, as London’s number one satellite shopping centre for retail spend, The Liberty Romford can contribute greatly to. Not only that, but MINISO epitomises an engaged and dynamic shopping experience, qualities which are equally embedded in our own customer journey. As such, this latest signing marks an exciting moment for both MINISO and The Liberty Romford.”
The new store opening comes as part of MINISO’s rapid UK expansion, adding to the retailer’s growing footprint in key shopping destinations.
MINISO’s arrival follows the recent opening of Rituals, a beauty and wellbeing brand, further enhancing the centre’s appeal. The Liberty Romford also hosts anchor tenants including Primark, Marks & Spencer, Next, Flannels, and H&M. The leasing transaction was facilitated by Cushman & Wakefield and Green & Partners, representing The Liberty Romford, while Cushman & Wakefield also acted on behalf of MINISO.
