Shoptalk launched its European debut at London’s Excel this week.  Having launched just three years ago in the United States, organiser Hyve Group decided to bring the unique format across the pond.

Claiming the title of Europe’s greatest retail show, they promised meaningful connections and world-class speakers. Over three days Shoptalk Europe welcomed over 3000 attendees from retailers, brands, startups, technology firms, investors, and real estate operators.

A buoyant exhibition floor was home to over 200 international exhibitors including familiar names such as Amazon Pay and Shopify, Start-Ups had their own dedicated area where they could showcase their products and services, while a section of the hall was dedicated to Grocery.

Four conference areas surrounded the exhibition halls where a broad range of current retail trends was discussed throughout the day.  In the keynote theatre, you were greeted by a DJ setting the tone for high energy discussions about to come.  Tim Steiner OBE, Co-Founder & CEO, Ocado Group discussed leading the revolution in online grocery. Anya Hindmarch joined Lucy Maguire, Trends Editor from Vogue Business to discuss the role that fashion can play in raising awareness of sustainability and the misuse of single-use plastic.

Roland Palmer, GM UK, Belgium, Netherlands & Nordics, Alibaba Group discussed The Technologies and Trends Shaping Retail’s Digital Future, while Chris Morton, Co-Founder & CEO, Lyst offered insight the Future of Fashion Shopping.

A hall was dedicated to the Hosted Retailers & Brands Programme where suppliers meet buyers by utilising an algorithm that matches the retailer’s requirements with the supplier’s ability to provide that service. No need to swipe left or right.

Shoptalk also hosted a spectacular party following day two of the event. All attendees were invited to enjoy drinks, street food and performances by Kate Nash, The Feeling and a DJ set from Basement Jaxx.
