Arc’teryx, the technical outerwear and equipment specialist, is set to open its first standalone UK store outside London, selecting Manchester’s New Cathedral Street as its next retail destination.
The Canadian brand, known for its high-performance outdoor apparel, will occupy a unit opposite Manchester Arndale. The decision marks a strategic move to expand beyond the capital and connect with a wider UK customer base, particularly in a region recognised for its outdoor and sporting communities.

Sven Radtke, General Manager – EMEA at Arc’teryx, commented: “Manchester is a vibrant urban hub that serves as a launchpad for outdoor enthusiasts. Its proximity to diverse natural landscapes makes it a gateway to the outdoors and a haven for hiking, climbing and other activities. Our goal is to help our core communities get out, doing what they love, equipped with the most high-performance gear to reach their goals.”
CBRE and Sovereign Centros, acting on behalf of M&G Real Estate and Global Mutual, serve as joint asset managers for New Cathedral Street and the wider Manchester Arndale district. The area has recently attracted a number of expanding brands looking to establish a presence in the city.
Steve Gray, Head of European Retail Asset Management at Global Mutual, said: “Arc’teryx has become a hugely popular brand among younger shoppers, so we are delighted it has selected New Cathedral Street as its first UK store outside London. Its arrival highlights the continued demand we are seeing from leading brands keen to expand out of London, with Manchester becoming the next step on their UK expansion plans thanks to its growing population and strong consumer spend.”
Scott Linard, Portfolio Director at M&G Real Estate, added: “The arrival of Arc’teryx further enhances New Cathedral Street’s reputation as the home of premium brands in Manchester. Over the past few years, we have been proud to welcome growing brands such as Arc’teryx and Represent seeking high-quality, well-located physical retail space outside London. With our strong customer base and reputation as the go-to fashion destination in the North West, we look forward to welcoming more new brands to Manchester.”
The new opening underlines Manchester’s ongoing appeal to international and premium retailers and reflects the city’s position as a significant retail hub beyond London.
