Borsalino, the iconic Italian hat maker known for its unparalleled craftsmanship and style since 1857, has inaugurated its first boutique in the United Kingdom. Nestled in the heart of Mayfair, Burlington Arcade – lauded as ‘the jewel in Mayfair’ and one of London’s most distinguished shopping destinations – now houses the new Borsalino boutique.
This two-level retail space, spreading over 40 square meters at the arcade’s Piccadilly end, embodies a perfect blend of tradition and modernity, thanks to the innovative retail concept by architect Nicola Quadri. This concept, which has already been featured in Borsalino’s recent boutique launches in Milan’s Via della Spiga and Forte dei Marmi, has been seamlessly adapted to the unique character of Burlington Arcade, ensuring a shopping experience that is both exclusive and inviting.
Mauro Baglietto, Managing Director for Borsalino, expressed his enthusiasm about the London opening, stating, “We are very proud of this new boutique opening in London, a multicultural city, rich in history and energy. For our first boutique in this City, we chose Burlington Arcade, a location of great charm, as it had inspired Milan’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, where Borsalino has been present with a retail boutique since 1883. This opening in London kicks off a retail development plan that will involve main European capital cities, aimed at further consolidating the international presence of the Brand.”
Echoing the excitement, Trupti Shah, Commercial and Marketing Director at Burlington Arcade, remarked, “The arrival of Borsalino’s flagship boutique at Burlington Arcade is incredibly exciting. The brand’s dedication to craftsmanship seamlessly complements the ethos of the existing retailers. Embracing a fresh perspective, the boutique promises to infuse a sense of novelty that will enhance the shopping journey for our customers.”
The Borsalino boutique at Burlington Arcade offers the latest in men’s and women’s collections, featuring hats, caps, and accessories all crafted with the meticulous detail and quality that have become synonymous with the Made in Alessandria Maison. This opening is a part of Borsalino’s ambitious retail development strategy launched in 2023, which has already seen new boutiques in Forte dei Marmi, Monte Carlo, and Milan Malpensa International Airport’s Piazza del Lusso. Additionally, the Pop-Up Borsalino project continues to thrive, with a temporary boutique at the Printemps Haussmann department store in Paris running from 2 November 2023 to 7 January 2024.
In a nod to the cultural significance of this opening, the Beadles of Burlington Arcade – guardians donned in vintage uniforms who welcome visitors – will wear the iconic Borsalino Alessandria wide-brimmed hat in porto dyed felt during the boutique’s first month, celebrating the marriage of tradition and contemporary fashion.
