B&Q has opened a new 41,000 square foot store at Altrincham Retail Park, marking the first of eight former Homebase locations to be relaunched under the brand. Situated on George Richards Way (WA14 5GR), the store aims to provide home improvement products and services to local customers, including both retail and trade visitors.
The new site employs 38 colleagues, 19 of whom transferred from Homebase and 19 who were newly recruited. It offers more than 16,000 home improvement products and includes a dedicated TradePoint counter, catering to trade professionals with services such as timber cutting and Valspar paint mixing.
In addition to indoor retail, the store features a garden centre stocked with outdoor plants and gardening tools. Customers can also use B&Q’s click and collect service, available within 15 minutes for selected products, and next-day collection for a broader range.
Ahead of the official opening, B&Q staff participated in a community initiative in collaboration with local mental health charity The Counselling & Family Centre. Volunteers upgraded the charity’s allotment by planting, painting, and installing improved facilities to enhance accessibility as part of B&Q’s Community Days programme.

The Altrincham site represents B&Q’s latest step in expanding its physical retail footprint following the acquisition of multiple Homebase locations earlier in the year. Additional store openings are expected to follow across April and May.
