LabTech, owner of the world-famous Camden Market, has announced the launch of its partnership with Good Sixty, the sustainable online marketplace for independent retailers and producers. Forty of Camden Market’s traders have signed up with nearly 2,000 products on offer, representing the first retail-only platform from Good Sixty.
The partnership unites Camden Market’s traders, helping them to sell online together in a way that they could not achieve independently. Shoppers can support hundreds of brands on a platform that connects a leading online marketplace with one of the most famous destinations in the UK. Launching the platform in time for Christmas, LabTech is seeking to bring Camden Market’s vast array of independent and unique traders to an audience that might not be able to experience the destination in person. With nationwide delivery, shoppers from across the country can discover Camden Market from their own home for the first time.
Good Sixty was founded in 2017, partnering with major markets including London’s Borough Market, and independent brands in cities across the UK, from Bristol to Oxford to Leeds. The online marketplace was set up to highlight the benefits of shopping with independents, given the 60% greater economic benefit this brings to local communities.
Recent research from consumer and location intelligence specialist CACI has shown consumer sentiment around the blurring of offline and online shopping experiences. While more transactions online are expected, with 56% of people thinking this is a cheaper way to shop, 58% enjoy the experience of an in-person shop, and 36% want to shop more in-store this Christmas.
Commenting on the launch, LabTech’s Commercial Director, Maggie Milosavljevic, said: “Many of our small, independent traders have been asking us to help them with getting online, because if they do it themselves it is so hard to get noticed. Launching this platform helps us bring a critical mass of Camden Market’s best brands to the online marketplace, using our world-famous destination to help our traders gain traction and recognition in this space. It also opens the Camden Market offer to a nationwide audience; while it is a destination that creates such a unique experience, we can see the value that an omni-channel offer adds for our independent retailers and customers.”
Founder and CEO of Good Sixty, Chris Edwards, added: “Shopping from independents is better for customers, better for local communities, and better for the planet. We work with amazing independent markets and brands across the country, and are delighted to add Camden Market to our roster, as our first fashion and lifestyle retail platform. There are so many undeniable benefits of buying from artisans, and we believe Camden Market Online will be crucial for connecting conscientious shoppers with some of the UK’s most talented small businesses.”
