DHL eCommerce UK has opened a 55,000 sq.ft parcel facility in Newcastle, enhancing operational capacity across the North East. The site is capable of handling up to 15,000 parcels daily and is a key part of the company’s ongoing £482 million investment in UK infrastructure.

The facility launch follows the opening of DHL’s Coventry Hub and supports its broader strategy to scale capacity while adhering to its Go Green sustainability objectives. Energy-saving features such as heating and lighting sensors have been incorporated into the site, alongside ten EV charging points to help reduce emissions from last-mile delivery.

Located near a previous DHL site, the new facility has enabled staff to transfer without relocation, maintaining workforce stability. Enhanced amenities, including breakout areas, have been introduced to improve employee wellbeing. Additional local employment opportunities are also expected in the future.

Stuart Hill, UK CEO of DHL eCommerce UK, commented: “We are thrilled to announce the opening of our site in Newcastle. This latest development follows the opening of our state-of-the-art Coventry Hub last month and further underscores our commitment to expanding our UK investments. By sustainably growing our operations, we are boosting our capacity to meet the growing demands of customers, enhancing the working environment for our valued team members and upholding our commitment to provide excellent service for customers, both locally and internationally.”

The addition of the Newcastle facility underlines DHL’s commitment to expanding regional logistics capabilities while progressing toward net-zero emissions by 2050.
