DPD UK, a part of Europe’s largest parcel delivery network, DPDgroup, has announced the completion of the acquisition of Absolutely, a longstanding final mile courier company. The move will help the company further strengthen its same-day delivery capabilities across the UK.

Absolutely’s operations cover the South East, with a fleet of approximately 200 couriers serving over 2,500 clients, from fashion brands and health organisations to law firms and media businesses. The company’s fleet comprises zero-emission vehicles, such as cargo bikes and pushbikes, in addition to vans and motorbikes, and offers temperature-controlled courier services.

DPD UK’s latest acquisition follows its purchase of CitySprint, the UK same-day delivery company, in 2022, allowing the firm to capitalise on the rapidly growing delivery market segment. The deal also means that Absolutely customers can leverage DPD UK’s domestic next-day and international expertise, in addition to CitySprint’s UK-wide same-day network.

Elaine Kerr, CEO of DPD UK, said: “Same-day delivery is one of the fastest-growing segments of the logistics market, and this move allows us to further strengthen and expand our offer in this area, following the acquisition of CitySprint last year.” Stuart Godman, CEO of Absolutely, added: “This move is great news for our existing customers, and we look forward to offering them access to DPD’s broader range of services in due course. But for now, it’s very much business as usual.”

DPD UK offers nationwide domestic next-day and international deliveries from 84 locations, and delivers over 400 million parcels annually for online retail specialists and some of the biggest high street names. The company is also a leader in sustainable delivery, operating 3,000 electric vehicles and planning to deliver to 30 of the largest UK towns and cities with zero and low-emission delivery means by the end of 2023. In July 2021, Oxford became the UK’s first all-electric city for DPD.
