Peel has unveiled plans for Charity Super.Mkt, the UK’s inaugural multi-charity shop, to inaugurate its forthcoming pop-up at Gloucester Quays. The 4,000 square foot store is scheduled to open its doors on March 14th at a prominent site off High Orchard Street, showcasing its acclaimed ‘second-hand department store’ model.

Charity Super.Mkt aims to amalgamate a diverse assortment of pre-owned fashion and accessories, featuring items such as vintage denim and sportswear, by collaborating with some of the UK’s most cherished charities and several regional initiatives. For its Gloucester Quays location, Charity Super.Mkt will present a dynamic rotation of organisations throughout the pop-up’s lifespan to accommodate the considerable demand for store space. Participating charities will include Havens Hospices, Longfield Hospice, Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, National Star, Traid, and Acorn.

This announcement follows the triumph of Charity Super.Mkt’s initial physical store at Brent Cross earlier in 2023, which achieved its four-week target within a mere four days. Since then, the fashion initiative has extended its presence to several of the UK’s leading retail and leisure venues, with Gloucester Quays marking its first venture into an outlet setting.

Paul Carter, Asset Director at Peel L&P, highlighted the synergy between Charity Super.Mkt and Gloucester Quays, emphasising the growing popularity of pre-loved fashion and its natural fit within the outlet shopping milieu. He praised Charity Super.Mkt for its rapid success and alignment with consumer shopping trends, predicting it will significantly appeal to Gloucester Quays’ devoted clientele.

Co-founders of Charity Super.Mkt, Maria Chenoweth and Wayne Hemingway, shared their enthusiasm for the new location, reflecting on the project’s success in integrating second-hand charity fashion with mainstream retail environments. They expressed eagerness to introduce Gloucester Quays’ visitors to a novel charity retail experience.

The opening of Charity Super.Mkt at Gloucester Quays aligns with the destination’s recent achievements in sustainability, including becoming the first UK shopping centre to attain ‘Net Zero Carbon – Operational Energy’ and receiving a 3* GRESB accreditation, further reinforcing its commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance.
