Jollyes has officially opened its first store in York at Monks Cross Shopping Park. The store opening was celebrated with a unique ribbon-cutting ceremony where retired border force detector dog Pablo, alongside handler Beverley Boynton and York’s Lord Mayor, Councillor Margaret Wells, bit through a string of sausages to declare the store open.

The York location is the latest in Jollyes’ expanding network, bringing a variety of pet supplies and services to the city. The store, covering Monks Cross Drive in Huntington, is designed to cater to all pet owners, offering products ranging from pet food to accessories. It also features a dedicated raw food frozen ‘shop-in-shop’ section, enhancing the retailer’s extensive offerings.

The opening has created 12 new jobs in the area. Among the team is Aquilla Fisher, who has been promoted to Deputy Manager after four years with Jollyes, and Tom Hurley, who has transferred from the Doncaster branch after eight years with the company. Deputy Manager Fisher expressed excitement about the new store: “We’re delighted to have brought Jollyes to York. The team here at the store can’t wait to bring their pet expertise to the city alongside the kind of value that’s been making a real difference to pet parents right across the UK.”

In addition to serving local pet owners, Jollyes is continuing its commitment to supporting the National Foundation for Retired Service Animals (NFRSA). Over the next 12 months, the retailer will raise funds across all its stores for the charity, with Jollyes matching donations up to £20,000 to assist in the care of retired service animals.
