Joseph Cheaney, known for its British-made footwear, has opened a new boutique on New Bond Street, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern luxury. The boutique presents a space where Cheaney’s heritage and contemporary design merge, celebrating both the artistry of shoemaking and the refinement of a high-end retail experience.

Located in one of London’s most iconic shopping districts, the New Bond Street boutique brings the “theatre” of Cheaney’s factory craftsmanship into the retail environment. Natural light fills the store through a fully glazed facade, complemented by mirrors and light boxes that create depth and drama, inviting customers to engage with the brand’s offerings in a fresh way.

At the centre of the boutique is a shoe polishing station, a feature designed to capture the attention of passers-by and invite them to experience Cheaney’s commitment to quality firsthand. This interactive element underscores the meticulous care and expertise involved in the brand’s footwear, allowing customers to connect with the craftsmanship behind each product. William Church, Joint Managing Director, explained, “Our goal is to bring the theatre of the factory in-store, allowing customers to discover our handcrafted footwear in a contemporary space.”

A gallery-style display wraps around the perimeter of the boutique, presenting Cheaney’s footwear with the precision and attention of a curated exhibit. The layout emphasises the brand’s dedication to quality and aligns with New Bond Street’s luxurious atmosphere. Carefully selected materials and understated design features enhance the store’s elegance, reinforcing Cheaney’s position as a leader in British luxury footwear.

The boutique’s design, crafted in collaboration with retail design agency Checkland Kindleysides, reflects the long-standing partnership between the two brands. Building on previous projects at Jermyn Street and Coal Drops Yard, Checkland Kindleysides has elevated Cheaney’s established retail identity, incorporating sophisticated design elements that amplify both natural light and visual appeal. This partnership has created a space that is both inviting and impactful, providing an immersive experience where Cheaney’s heritage meets modernity.
