Just Eat has entered into a significant partnership with cardfactory, a move that brings on-demand delivery of cards, gifts, and celebration essentials directly to consumers across the UK. This exclusive collaboration, a first for both companies, is currently being trialled in 19 locations, including Belfast, Cardiff, Glasgow, Manchester, and Wakefield, with plans to extend the service to an additional 21 stores later in the year.
Through the Just Eat app, customers will have access to over 200 cardfactory products, ranging from greeting cards and candles to balloons, gift bags, key rings, confectionery, and stationery. This partnership aims to offer consumers greater convenience, aligning with the growing trend of rapid delivery services becoming an integral part of daily life.
The partnership follows findings from a study conducted by PA Consulting on behalf of Just Eat Takeaway.com, which revealed that 75% of those who have ordered on-demand groceries expect it to become a regular aspect of their lives. The survey, which included 4,000 European customers, highlighted key moments that drive grocery and retail orders through the app, including occasions such as gift-giving and sending care packages. This new service offering is intended to cater specifically to these needs.
Amy Heather, Strategic Accounts Director at Just Eat UK, highlighted the importance of rapid delivery in meeting customer expectations. She stated, “Increasingly, rapid delivery is no longer deemed a luxury but an expectation by busy consumers, and this is demonstrated by the fact 1 million UK customers are now regularly getting groceries from Just Eat. As we expand further into the retail space, this exclusive partnership with Cardfactory signals our commitment to serving customers whenever, and wherever, they need us. Through our extensive delivery network, we’re working to make gifting and celebrating as convenient for consumers as ordering a takeaway.”
The initiative aligns with Just Eat’s broader strategy of expanding into retail. The platform, which now reaches 97 per cent of all UK postcodes, has seen its grocery and retail offerings grow significantly over the past year, with the number of retail sites listed on the app increasing fourfold. Partnerships like the one with Cardfactory are central to Just Eat’s mission of providing everyday convenience, catering to a variety of consumer needs, from last-minute gift purchases to essential grocery shopping.
Sam Davies, Executive Digital Director at cardfactory plc, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, saying, “Celebrating life’s moments is an important part of the way we live, so we want customers to be able to interact with us in whichever way they choose, whether that’s in store, online, or through one of our partners. Delivering great value, choice, and convenience is key to Cardfactory’s growth strategy, and through our partnership with Just Eat, we look forward to bringing our unique proposition to more customers in more places.”
Cardfactory, which operates over 1,000 stores across the UK and Ireland, is focusing on expanding its digital reach and enhancing its multichannel offerings as part of its growth strategy. The partnership with Just Eat is a step towards achieving this goal, allowing the retailer to reach a broader audience and meet the growing demand for convenient shopping solutions.
