Australian-born global streetwear brand Ksubi has opened its first Australian flagship store at 321 Little Bourke Street, Melbourne. This new location signifies the brand’s continued growth, joining existing stores in gateway cities around the world including New York, Los Angeles, London, Miami, and Chicago. The flagship offers an elevated brand experience featuring a curated selection of Ksubi’s global collections for Melbourne shoppers.
With a mutual heritage embedded in art, music, and culture, Ksubi has partnered with Melbourne creatives on exclusive in-store offerings to celebrate the flagship opening and the brand’s return to Australian shores. Visitors will have the opportunity to shop a limited-edition Melbourne city tee, designed by local contemporary artist Mayonaize. Drawing inspiration from the city’s graffiti art, Mayonaize’s unique calligraphy script style has made him a prominent figure in the Melbourne street-art and tattoo-art scenes. The flagship will also showcase local DJs in Ksubi’s creative community with weekly music programming from 3 pm – 6 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
The 140 sqm flagship store is designed by the renowned AZBCREATIVE team, who focused on bringing to life Ksubi’s luxe-rebellion ethos. Standout design features include a retained six-metre concrete wall, reminiscent of the underground car parks and dance parties where Ksubi’s roots lie, accented with carefully crafted elements such as metres of patent silver drapery and floating hanging rails.
“In presenting the new frontier of the iconic Ksubi brand, we did a deep dive into materiality, ensuring everything resonates with the rebellious nature of Ksubi. This space embodies an edge and a narrative. From stripping everything back to its barest bones and adding meaningful and sophisticated elements, Ksubi Melbourne communicates refinement alongside rawness, creativity, and passion. We are thrilled to present Ksubi in their own Melbourne store on Little Bourke Street,” says Alex Zabotto-Bentley, Design Director, AZBCREATIVE.
Originally founded in Sydney, Ksubi has grown into a globally recognisable and notorious streetwear brand. Known for its beautifully imperfect denim, and unconventional and undeterred attitude, Ksubi has built a loyal global following and has collaborated with celebrities such as Travis Scott and Kendall Jenner. The brand is one of the fastest-growing denim brands in the US and is stocked among some of the world’s most noted fashion retailers including Saks, Neiman Marcus, SSENSE, Kith, and Browns.
“In recent years we have been focused on solidifying our brand internationally – opening stores in Miami, Chicago, and on Carnaby Street in London. 2024 was designated the year to bring the energy and passion that we have fostered overseas back to Oz. There’s no better place to begin that journey than the home of fashion, Melbourne. Lt Bourke St is the first of our permanent flagships in Australia and we are very excited to bring our version of fashion and good times to the precinct,” said Craig King, CEO of Ksubi.
