Primark has announced the signing of a lease for its first-ever storefront in Manhattan. The flagship store will be located in the heart of the revitalised PENN DISTRICT, at 150 W 34th Street, directly across from Penn Station, one of the busiest transportation hubs in the US. This strategic location in Herald Square positions Primark to attract both commuters and local shoppers, expanding its reach in the New York region.
The new store will span over 54,000 square feet across four floors, providing a wide range of fashion and essentials for men, women, and children, as well as homewares and beauty products. Herald Square will become Primark’s 11th store in New York, following the opening of a new location at Queens Center later this year.
Primark’s move into Manhattan marks a significant step in its US expansion. With over 450 stores in 17 countries, the retailer has steadily grown its presence across the US since entering the market nearly a decade ago. Currently, Primark US operates 27 stores across 11 states, soon to be 12, with the opening of its first Texas store in McAllen later this year.
Kevin Tulip, Primark US President, expressed excitement over the Manhattan lease: “Opening a location in the epicentre of US fashion is going to be an exciting milestone for Primark US. When the opportunity arose to bring Primark to Herald Square in Manhattan, a store with exceptionally high foot traffic, national influence, and perfectly located to attract customers who already know us from other Primark stores in the boroughs and surrounding areas, we knew it was the perfect fit. We’re thrilled to bring more affordable quality fashion directly to Manhattanites, commuters, and people across the world who are visiting the great city of New York.”
The PENN DISTRICT, where the new store will be situated, is rapidly transforming into a bustling hub of retail, dining, and entertainment. Ed Hogan, EVP of Retail Leasing at Vornado, commented: “The PENN DISTRICT is transforming into a dynamic new District offering the best in class of retail, restaurants and lifestyle offerings. We are excited for Primark to open its first Manhattan location in this vibrant neighborhood. As THE PENN DISTRICT is quickly becoming New York’s top destination for exceptional shopping, dining, and entertainment, we look forward to working with the Primark team as they welcome their first Manhattan customers to experience all that the new store – and neighborhood – has to offer.”
An opening date for Primark’s Herald Square location will be announced at a later time, as the retailer continues its steady growth across the US.
