Metrocentre has announced that Stradivarius will be opening its first North East store at the shopping destination this summer. The new 10,000 sq ft store will be located in Lower Red Mall, near Zara, reinforcing Inditex’s continued investment in Metrocentre as a key location for its brands.
Stradivarius, known for its trend-driven apparel and accessories, will add to Red Mall’s strong fashion line-up, which includes Reiss, Mango, and River Island, the latter of which recently completed a major refurbishment.

Metrocentre’s continued growth
Metrocentre’s ability to attract leading international brands has contributed to record-breaking visitor numbers. In 2024, the centre welcomed 15.8 million visitors, reflecting a 10% year-on-year increase. This growth highlights Metrocentre’s continued dominance within the North East retail market, cementing its place as one of the UK’s premier shopping destinations.

“Stradivarius signing for this regional debut is a huge statement for Metrocentre, confirming its appeal as the premier retail destination in the North East. Inditex’s decision to bring another of its leading brands to Red Mall showcases our ability to deliver the best in fashion experiences to our growing and increasingly loyal customer base.”
Strengthening Metrocentre’s retail offering
The signing of Stradivarius comes as Metrocentre celebrates a strong start to 2025, following a record-breaking 2024 for both sales and footfall. In the past 12 months, nearly 300,000 sq ft of deals have been completed, contributing to a 9.2% year-on-year footfall uplift so far this year.
