Sweatcoin, the step counting app that pays customers to get active by converting their steps into currency, has partnered with MoEngage, the leading insights-led customer engagement platform, to enhance customer engagement as it fuels the growth of its Movement Economy.
Sweatcoin is a new breed of step counting and activity tracking app that converts customers’ steps into currency. On a mission to get over 1 billion people around the world moving more, Sweatcoin counts users’ daily steps and rewards them with ‘sweatcoins’, its in-app currency, which can be built up to spend on products (in the same way consumers can collect and redeem air miles), donate to charity or exchange for crypto currency tender.
With over 120 million customers globally, Sweatcoin was the most downloaded health and fitness app of 2022, with data showing customers who downloaded the app increase their daily step count by an additional 20%. In September 2022, its parent company, Sweat Economy, launched into Web3 with a new crypto token, ‘SWEAT’, which operates as a digital currency in Sweat Wallet available in the Sweatcoin app.
Experiencing hypergrowth and looking to expand its offer to new international markets, including South America, India, Asia and Africa, Sweatcoin wanted to double down on its lifecycle marketing processes.
Previously, email and push notifications were being manually configured in Sweatcoin’s legacy system, which not only proved a time-intensive exercise involving multiple members of the development, design and marketing teams but was delivering underwhelming results. Sweatcoin felt it was leaving engagement opportunities on the table and wanted to enhance, automate and optimise customer engagement to increase app use, and help customers explore the full functionality of Sweatcoin as well as new features, such as Sweat Wallet and SWEAT.
Sweatcoin chose MoEngage
After a competitive pitch process, Sweatcoin chose to partner with MoEngage, and will leverage the solution’s customer engagement platform that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to unlock insight into consumers’ behaviours. Using MoEngage’s ‘no-code’ solution, Sweatcoin will be able to scale and automate customer interaction quickly and seamlessly, whilst its reporting dashboard and detailed analytics will help Sweatcoin improve segmentation to drive more engaging, personalised customer journeys within the app.
