TK Maxx has reinforced its commitment to Norwich’s Castle Quarter by signing a new ten-year lease on its 23,000 sq ft store. This agreement, which includes a break clause after five years, underscores the clothing and homewares retailer’s long-term presence at the city’s popular leisure and lifestyle destination.
Castle Quarter’s diverse tenant mix combines traditional retail with a growing portfolio of social and entertainment brands, strengthening its appeal as a central Norwich hotspot. TK Maxx remains a key retail anchor, alongside major brands such as Boots, Flying Tiger, and The Entertainer, providing a balance between high-street essentials and lifestyle options.
In recent years, Castle Quarter has successfully repositioned itself as a leading social and entertainment hub. This shift has attracted brands focused on “competitive socialising,” including Boom Battle Bar, Putt Putt Social, and Escape Hunt, alongside Vue cinema, which recently extended its lease by another 20 years. Dining options, particularly from independent and innovative providers, have also enhanced the centre’s food and beverage offerings, drawing in visitors to shop, play, and dine.
The strategic pivot towards leisure has delivered measurable results, with increased footfall, longer dwell times, and higher car park usage. Additionally, 75% of Castle Quarter’s tenants have reported improved year-on-year sales figures, reflecting the success of the repositioning strategy.
Will Ashdown, Asset Manager at RivingtonHark, highlighted the appeal of Castle Quarter’s well-rounded offering: “What makes Castle Quarter such an attractive destination is the combination of leisure, social, and retail it has to offer visitors, and TK Maxx is a key part of that mix. We are really pleased to see it recommit to Castle Quarter, demonstrating its confidence in the scheme and the success of the repositioning that we have successfully implemented over recent years.”
Spanning a total of 387,000 sq ft, Castle Quarter offers one of Norwich’s main city-centre car parks, with 800 spaces available for visitors. With agents Roche and Jamieson Mills overseeing its leasing, Castle Quarter is set to continue as a vibrant destination, evolving to meet both the social and shopping preferences of its patrons.
