Basildon Council Agrees Eastgate Shopping Centre Purchase
Basildon Council’s agreed acquisition of Eastgate Shopping Centre places the retail destination within the authority’s wider regeneration plans, while management prepares to support tenants and the opening of a new health facility.
Basildon Council has agreed to purchase Eastgate Shopping Centre, beginning a new phase for one of the town’s principal retail and community destinations.
Council Investment And Regeneration
The centre said the acquisition represents an investment in the future of Basildon town centre and reflects a shared commitment to supporting local businesses, attracting investment and maintaining the area as a destination for residents and visitors.
The management team at Eastgate Shopping Centre will continue to work with Basildon Council, retailers and other partners, building on progress at the centre while supporting the delivery of future regeneration plans.
These plans include the opening of the new Eastgate Health Centre, which will bring healthcare services into the town centre. The facility is also expected to increase footfall, with potential benefits for businesses across the wider town centre.
“This is a really exciting milestone for Eastgate Shopping Centre and for Basildon as a whole. We are incredibly proud of the progress we’ve made over recent years, strengthening our retail and leisure offer, supporting our tenants and creating a welcoming destination for the local community.”
“The Council’s investment reflects the confidence in Eastgate’s future and the important role the centre plays within the town. We’re looking forward to working alongside Basildon Council to build on the positive momentum we’ve created, welcoming new opportunities, supporting our existing retailers and continuing to enhance the experience for everyone who visits Eastgate. The future is incredibly exciting, and we’re proud to be part of Basildon’s ongoing regeneration journey.”
