GRIDSERVE has opened its fourth Electric Forecourt® at Junction 7 of the A1(M) on the Knebworth Estate in Stevenage, introducing a brand-new Little Fresh store powered by Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology. Visitors to the Stevenage Electric Forecourt® can now shop seamlessly as they charge their vehicles, bypassing traditional checkouts for a quick and easy shopping experience.
The Little Fresh store operates by allowing visitors to tap a payment card or smartphone wallet at entry. Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology, which leverages generative AI, computer vision, and deep-learning algorithms, then tracks items taken from or returned to the shelves, automatically charging the customer’s payment method as they exit. Receipts can be accessed through a simple sign-up or online.
The new Stevenage Electric Forecourt® offers 30 EV charging bays, with 24 High Power bays delivering up to 360kW—enabling up to 100 miles of range in just 10 minutes. The site is powered by 100% net-zero energy and includes 4 Tesla Superchargers, making it accessible to all EV users, including motorway travellers and locals.
Beyond EV charging, customers can relax with refreshments from Costa Coffee or explore the interactive EV experience area, where GRIDSERVE Gurus provide impartial advice on electric vehicle options.
Rebecca Trebble, Chief Product Officer at GRIDSERVE, commented: “At the Stevenage Electric Forecourt®, we aim to deliver the best service, not just with charging but the whole experience. Little Fresh powered by Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology delivers a seamless retail experience which has been popular at our London Gatwick Electric Forecourt®. Along with our Costa Coffee and state-of-the-art chargers, the Stevenage Electric Forecourt® is a must-visit location for all drivers.”
Kash Khera, Managing Director at SimplyFresh, added, “Simply Fresh has always been at the cutting edge of convenience retail, and our second collaboration with Amazon and GRIDSERVE solidifies this commitment. Little Fresh, powered by Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology, is designed to provide an effortless and quick shopping experience that perfectly complements the state-of-the-art EV charging facilities at the Stevenage Electric Forecourt. With Stevenage, we’re excited to lead the evolution of convenience shopping.”
The Little Fresh store is open from 7am to 9pm daily, while the EV chargers operate 24/7 year-round. With over 190 locations and 1,400 charging bays, GRIDSERVE continues to expand its network of Electric Forecourts across the UK.
