SGS UK Retail has announced that JD will expand its presence at Braehead Shopping Centre, increasing its store footprint by one third. The enlarged 18,000 square foot store is set to open in 2026 and will occupy a central unit on the lower level of the centre.

The expansion will allow JD to display its full multi-category offering, including footwear, athleisure, accessories and sportswear for men, women and juniors. The upgraded store will feature the brand’s latest retail concept, incorporating dedicated product zones, interactive features and a broader assortment of items from brands such as Montirex, Nike, adidas, The North Face and Under Armour.

According to Huw Kmiot, Associate Director of Asset Management at Pradera Lateral, which manages Braehead on behalf of SGS, the expansion is part of wider changes underway at the centre. “JD’s upsize is a powerful demonstration of Braehead’s momentum, and the confidence that major brands have in our long-term vision for the centre,” he said. “Combined with an ongoing investment programme, including our new brand identity and marketing campaign, and the recent launch of Braehead Ambition, we’re evolving the offer, elevating the experience, and ensuring the destination continues to resonate with an ever-increasing number of consumers.”

The reconfiguration of JD’s store follows other recent changes at Braehead, including new leases signed with MINISO and Flying Tiger Copenhagen. A new brand identity for the shopping centre has also been introduced, with updates to signage, wayfinding and marketing materials.

James Air, Director of Group Acquisitions at JD, commented: “Braehead has long been a strong performer for JD, and this upsize reflects our commitment to continued growth at the destination. The new store will deliver the very best of JD, combining cutting-edge design with an unrivalled product mix at a top retail location.”

The JD expansion is aligned with the objectives of Braehead Ambition, a strategic collaboration involving Braehead Shopping Centre, XSite and Braehead Arena. The partnership is managed by a board including SGS UK Retail, TDL Media and XPE Group Plc. Asset management and operations are overseen by Pradera Lateral, Savills, BWP Group, Lunson Mitchenall, BGP and Metis.

Lunson Mitchenall and Savills represented Braehead in the leasing transaction.
