Meadowhall has announced three major retail expansions, with JD, Superdrug, and Ann Summers committing to a total of 42,278 sq ft of retail space. The move follows a series of investments from leading brands at the shopping centre over the past year.

JD expands to create one of its largest UK stores
JD is nearly tripling its footprint on Meadowhall’s Lower Level High Street, securing five adjacent units to develop a 29,225 sq ft flagship store. Set to be JD’s biggest store in the region and second-largest nationally, the new space will offer an impressive 63m frontage, allowing the brand to showcase global names such as Nike, adidas, and The North Face.
Opening in 2026, the expanded store will feature dedicated brand areas and host regular in-store activations, providing an enhanced shopping experience for visitors.
James Air, director of group acquisitions at JD, said:
“I am absolutely thrilled that we will be delivering one of our largest stores in Europe at Meadowhall. With over 60 metres of frontage in a prime location, I am confident this will be one of our very best stores.”
Superdrug relocates to one of its largest UK stores
Superdrug is set to open a 10,199 sq ft store on Meadowhall’s Lower Level High Street in late May, marking one of its largest locations nationwide. The new store will offer:
- The latest trending beauty products
- Expert Beauty Studios, featuring manicures, eyebrow threading, and ear piercing
- A sustainability-focused design, in line with Superdrug’s sustainable store scheme
This move continues Superdrug’s long-term presence at Meadowhall, ensuring visitors have access to an expanded selection of beauty and personal care products.

Ann Summers unveils new store design with expansion
Ann Summers is also upsizing to a 2,854 sq ft unit on Meadowhall’s Lower Level High Street, introducing an updated store design and a wider product range. The new space will provide shoppers with an improved retail experience and reflects the brand’s investment in its in-store offering.
Meadowhall’s retail growth continues
Richard Crowther, retail leasing director at British Land, commented on the latest retail signings:
“Meadowhall continues to attract strategic investment from leading national and international brands. JD, Superdrug, and Ann Summers are the latest tenants to recommit to the destination, following 26 retailers that invested over £30m in their stores in the last 12 months. These substantial lease agreements will only elevate Meadowhall’s Lower High Street, as part of a centre that really dominates its region.”
This announcement follows the news that Sephora UK has chosen Meadowhall for its first store in Yorkshire, set to open this summer. The store will introduce an expertly curated selection of local and global beauty brands, further enhancing Meadowhall’s mix of retailers.
With leading brands continuing to invest, Meadowhall remains a key destination for shoppers and retailers alike.
