Onitsuka Tiger has opened its first dedicated production facility in Tottori Prefecture, combining manufacturing, retail, hospitality and cultural programming within a single destination.

Japanese fashion brand Onitsuka Tiger has opened its first dedicated production facility, Onitsuka Innovative Factory Corporation, in Tottori Prefecture. Opened on 1 January 2026 in the birthplace of founder Kihachiro Onitsuka, the site represents a significant evolution in the brand’s approach to experiential retail and hospitality-led placemaking.

A destination beyond manufacturing

Conceived as more than a production site, the facility integrates design, manufacturing and public-facing spaces. Onitsuka Tiger has positioned the project as a cultural hub intended to communicate its brand vision and Japanese craftsmanship to a global audience through physical experience.

Gallery, retail and cultural programming

An adjacent gallery presents archival items and curated exhibitions exploring the brand’s heritage and approach to craftsmanship. The Onitsuka Gallery Store, which opened on 16 January, marks the brand’s first retail presence in Tottori Prefecture and has been designed to offer a slower, more considered retail experience aligned with the factory setting.

The site also includes an auditorium designed as a flexible event space. Intended for talks, presentations and cultural programming, the auditorium supports the site’s role as a place for exchange between local residents and visitors.

Hospitality as brand extension

Hospitality forms a key part of the project through the introduction of Ristorante ONITSUKA TIGER, curated by chef Yoji Tokuyoshi. Using a farm-to-table approach centred on local ingredients, the restaurant extends Onitsuka Tiger’s identity beyond fashion into lifestyle and dining.

Regional partnership and long-term vision

The opening ceremony was attended by regional leaders, including Governor of Tottori Prefecture Shinji Hirai and Sakaiminato City Mayor Kentaro Date, who referenced the project’s potential contribution to the local community.

“This facility serves as Onitsuka Tiger’s new epicenter, integrating global design and technology with a foundation in Japanese craftsmanship. As we share our creations from our founder’s birthplace to the world, we are also committed to the succession of artisan skills and the nurturing of future talent, further evolving the values we have cultivated as a brand born in Japan.”— Ryoji Shoda, Head of Onitsuka Tiger Company
