Fashion giant Primark has set its sights on Hungary, announcing plans to open a store in the capital city of Budapest. The new store will be located in the bustling Arena Mall on the east side of the city, marking the brand’s entry into its 17th market globally.
This move is part of Primark’s ongoing expansion into Central and Eastern Europe, with successful store openings in countries such as Slovenia, Poland, Czech Republic, and Romania. Hungary will be the retailer’s sixth market in the region, with plans to open in Slovakia later this year.
Primark to open in Budapest
The new store in Budapest will offer customers a wide range of clothing and accessories, including womenswear, menswear, kidswear, beauty products, lifestyle items, and homeware. The store will also feature a selection of licensed products, such as those from NBA and Disney, as well as Primark’s own sustainable label, Primark Cares.
Primark CEO Paul Marchant said, “We are delighted to confirm we will be entering Hungary, as part of our ambitious international expansion plans. We have made great progress in our expansion plans across the CEE region and the customer response to our stores has been very positive. Arena Mall is one of Budapest’s biggest and busiest shopping malls, giving us a fantastic opportunity to introduce our unique in-store shopping experience to more customers. We look forward to opening our doors in our 17th market and welcoming the people of Hungary.”
The company is also planning to open stores in Slovakia, Bucharest, Romania, and Lodz and Wroclaw in Poland, with a goal of reaching 530 stores globally by the end of 2026.
