Cribbs Mall has recently announced the upcoming opening of a new store by the well-known women’s activewear brand, Sweaty Betty. This 1,714 square foot shop marks an expansion within the West Country shopping venue.

Founded by Tamara and Simon Hill-Norton, Sweaty Betty first made its mark with a boutique in Notting Hill in 1998 and has since expanded globally, boasting over 150 locations across the UK, the US, Europe, Canada, and Asia.

Sweaty Betty is acclaimed for its quality leggings and sportswear, designed to inspire and empower women in their fitness journeys and beyond. Positioned on the upper level, the new Cribbs Mall location will feature as a modern concept store, offering specialized areas for leggings and sports bras, alongside welcoming and well-designed fitting rooms.

Andrea Gray, Retail Director at Sweaty Betty, expressed enthusiasm about the launch: “We’re delighted to be opening the doors to our new store in Cribbs Mall, and we can’t wait to welcome our Bristol customers to experience our new concept store.”

The introduction of Sweaty Betty at Cribbs Mall comes amid a year of significant leasing activity for the shopping centre, with over 110,000 square feet filled, pushing occupancy rates to near full capacity. This growth phase welcomed several key brands, including Victoria’s Secret, Mango, Charles Tyrwhitt, and Greggs, enriching the retail environment.

Furthermore, 28 retailers have renewed their commitment to Cribbs Mall, securing the continued presence of brands like Boots, Waterstones, and Fat Face.

The expansion of Phase Eight’s store at Cribbs Mall, now encompassing 4,146 square feet, adds to the diverse fashion offerings available. These strategic additions and renewals have contributed to an 8% increase in footfall during 2023, underscoring Cribbs Mall as a significant shopping location in the South West.

Scott Linard, Portfolio Director at M&G Real Estate, shared his thoughts on the addition: “We are delighted that Sweaty Betty has chosen Cribbs Mall for its newest location in the South West. The brand’s arrival is anticipated to be a strong draw for the centre’s visitors. As we near full occupancy, welcoming several renowned brands over the past year has enriched our retail mix. Discussions are ongoing with several brands about filling the remaining units, promising more exciting announcements soon.”

James Osbaldeston, Asset Manager at Pradera Lateral, also commented on the development: “It is great to welcome Sweaty Betty as the latest addition to Cribbs Mall. Their innovative concept store is a perfect complement to our existing fashion brand lineup, ensuring a broad selection for our shoppers and cementing Cribbs Mall’s position as a key shopping destination in the West Country.”
