Fashion retailer Monsoon announces the opening of its latest boutique store at 290 Upper Street, Islington, marking the brand’s continued expansion across the UK. This follows the successful launch of boutique locations in Bath, Edinburgh, and Cambridge over the past year. The new London store opened its doors to customers on Friday, June 16.

As part of Monsoon’s strategy to establish elevated retail spaces in London’s local communities and selected market towns, the new store occupies a significant location on one of Islington’s most popular retail streets. This opening comes as Monsoon’s second in London within two months, following the Monsoon Vintage pop-up on Portobello Road in May, celebrating the brand’s 50th anniversary.

Naomi Robertson, Buying and Merchandising Director at Monsoon, expressed her excitement over the brand’s recent expansion, “In our 50th anniversary year, it is fun to be expanding our physical retail presence again. Our new boutique format has received a warm welcome with our recent store openings, and we’re looking forward to our new presence in Islington and serving our great North London customer base.”

Drawing inspiration from Monsoon’s rich heritage designs and a longstanding relationship with India, the architecture and colour palette of the stores are thoughtfully curated. In-store installations recount the brand’s product creation and craft stories, showcasing artisan wood-blocking and weaving techniques. The store’s vivid pops of colour resonate with the bold tones the brand has used since its foundation, adding an extra layer of authenticity to the customer experience. The latest boutique store in Islington encapsulates Monsoon’s commitment to heritage, craft, and fashion-forward thinking.
