Lidl GB has published a new list of target locations across Great Britain as it continues to seek sites for future store openings.

The locations, set out in Lidl GB’s latest Site Requirements Brochure, range from Garthdee in Aberdeen and Aldgate in London to Ystradgynlais in Wales and Windsor in Berkshire.

Lidl GB is looking for freehold, leasehold or long-leasehold sites in prominent locations with strong footfall and good accessibility. The supermarket is also offering a competitive finder’s fee to anyone who successfully identifies a previously unknown site that leads to a developed store.

The company said each new store would create local jobs, with entry-level hourly rates of £13.45 nationally, rising to £14.45 with length of service. In London, hourly pay starts at £14.80, increasing to £15.30 with length of service.

“At Lidl GB, we currently have one of the most ambitious store opening programmes of any supermarket and we are more committed than ever to bringing our high quality and low priced products to even more communities across the country.
“All of our stores deliver more than just affordable products. Each one also brings quality jobs, opportunities for British suppliers to showcase the best of our home grown produce and support to local good causes in the communities each one serves. In uncertain times, shoppers and communities can count on us.”

Richard Taylor, Chief Real Estate Officer at Lidl GB

Earlier this month, Lidl GB confirmed plans to open more than 50 new stores over the next 12 months as part of a £600 million investment. The supermarket has held a 33-month streak as the fastest-growing bricks-and-mortar supermarket in the UK. The publication of its latest target locations signals its intention to continue expanding after opening its 1,000th store in East Grinstead last November.

Lidl GB said the benefits of its operations, investments and employment extend beyond access to value-led products. Each store is linked to local charities, and through surplus food donations activated via Neighbourly, Lidl provided 18.5 million meals and supported 6.8 million people in need in a single year.

The supermarket is also continuing to invest in its operational infrastructure. Construction of its new warehouse in Leeds is progressing, with operations due to begin next year.
