Costa Coffee has opened at The Liberty in Romford, taking a 4,069 sq ft unit with 90 covers at one of the shopping centre’s busiest entrances.
The café offers quick-service food and drink in a relaxed setting, and is expected to increase dwell time and support the neighbouring shops, according to Redical, which owns and operates the centre. Costa Coffee, whose signing at The Liberty was announced in January, joins café operators at the scheme including Black Sheep Coffee and Pret a Manger.

Redical said the opening responds to the performance of the food and beverage category at The Liberty, which has recorded a 6% uplift compared with 2025 and has contributed to a 6.4% increase in year-to-date footfall at the centre.
“The opening of Costa Coffee not only enriches our café offer, but also The Liberty as a whole. It serves as another vote of confidence in the destination, demonstrating that leading brands continue to recognise its desirability, and role in serving the needs of the local community. We know this will bolster our already outperforming café category, giving visitors more reasons to dwell, shop, and socialise at The Liberty.”
Dan Tucker, Leasing Manager, Redical
The café follows the opening of Danish variety retailer Flying Tiger Copenhagen at the centre. The two stores sit close to each other, and Redical expects them to drive further footfall to the East Mall.
Cushman & Wakefield and Green & Partners acted for The Liberty Romford, while Costa Coffee was represented by RAB Property Consultancy.
