EuroCIS has begun allocating exhibition space for its 2027 edition, with organisers reporting that 90% of the available area has already been booked following the close of the early-booking phase.

The EuroCIS retail technology trade fair will return to Düsseldorf from 16 to 18 February 2027, with an adjusted layout spanning two and a half halls. The event will also focus its programme around six Hot Topics developed with conceptual sponsor EHI Retail Institute.

“We are starting to allocate hall space with very good booking levels: 90% of the area available is already booked up,”

The 2027 programme will address technology areas connected with investment and transformation projects across retail, while special areas are also planned around cybersecurity and retail catering.

“With our Hot Topics 2027 we also pick up on the topics currently dominating many investment and transformation projects,”

Elke Moebius, Director EuroCIS

Six Hot Topics for EuroCIS 2027

The six themes cover data and artificial intelligence, workforce technology, retail media, checkout, loss prevention and payments. Together, they reflect areas where retailers are examining how technology can support operational efficiency, staff, customer journeys and new commercial models.

AI & Data-Driven Retail

Linking inventory and sales data with wider market information can support decision-making across assortment management, pricing and demand forecasting. AI is increasingly being used to translate these data sets into recommendations and to automate elements of operational processes. The focus builds on themes examined in 365 Retail’s coverage of AI and advanced retail technology at EuroCIS 2025.

Employee Empowerment

Workforce management, mobile task management and gamification applications are among the digital tools being positioned to support retail employees. The emphasis is on reducing routine tasks and creating more time for sales assistance and personal service.

Retail Media

Physical and digital retail touchpoints are increasingly being used as advertising platforms. Technologies including digital signage, in-store screens and electronic shelf labels can support context-related advertising at the point of sale.

Future Checkout

Self-service systems, seamless-store concepts, digital receipts and AI-assisted product recognition are changing checkout processes. The focus is on reducing waiting times, improving operational efficiency and creating a more integrated customer journey.

Loss Prevention

AI-based video analysis, real-time inventory monitoring, fraud detection and sensor technology are being used to identify risks more quickly and protect retail assets. These systems can also bring security and operational processes into closer alignment.

Future Payment

Payment is increasingly being integrated across the wider customer journey rather than confined to a conventional checkout. Cash, cards, mobile payments, biometrics, instant payments and digital currencies form part of the theme, alongside transactions completed elsewhere in the store or through an app.

Further detail on the six strands is available within the EuroCIS 2027 Hot Topics programme.

Retail Technology Programme

The event brings together retail technology vendors and decision-makers from retail and wholesale, financial services, hospitality, food service and related sectors.

Its supporting programme will include special areas, stages, Guided Innovation Tours and awards alongside the main exhibition.

EuroCIS 2027 will take place in Düsseldorf from 16 to 18 February 2027.
