The King’s Cross Group has added Potato Art Studio and Cass Art to the line-up at King’s Cross, bringing a hands-on creative workshop concept and an art materials retailer to the London estate.

Potato Art Studio will open at King’s Cross in early 2027 in a 1,340 sq ft unit. The concept combines activities including pottery painting, candle making and arts and crafts, with hands-on workshops intended to bring people of all ages together and make creativity accessible to everyone.

Cass Art, which sells art materials, joined the estate in September, taking 3,500 sq ft. The retailer, whose stated mission is to encourage everyone to realise their creative potential, partners with art brands, galleries and creative institutions including the National Portrait Gallery, Sky Arts and University of the Arts London. It also works with local galleries and supports community art projects.

The two occupiers join a creative mix at King’s Cross that already includes Central Saint Martins, Lightroom, public art and a year-round programme of cultural events and installations.

Their arrival follows the Group’s recently completed 20-year lease with University of the Arts London (UAL), under which Central Saint Martins will expand its campus by 17,782 sq ft into the neighbouring Western Transit Shed. The college has been based at King’s Cross since 2011, and Cass Art has worked with the university for several decades to support local artists studying on site.

“Creativity has always been part of the fabric of King’s Cross, so the arrival of Potato Art Studio and Cass Art is a natural fit for the estate. Both build on King’s Cross’s longstanding heritage as a place of creativity and design, adding something new to our diverse and vibrant retail offer.

We want King’s Cross to offer experiences that draw on the creativity already thriving here. Central Saint Martins is a major part of that, and these additions complement its presence in different ways. From Cass Art’s longstanding relationship with the university to the hands-on experiences offered by Potato Art Studio, they showcase the many opportunities on the estate for people to participate in our creative community.”

Jane Macdiarmid, Head of Retail Asset Management, The King’s Cross Group

King’s Cross has more than 500,000 sq ft of retail, leisure and hospitality space. Its strategy focuses on a mix of established brands, independent operators, everyday amenities and experiences intended to give people new reasons to spend time in the neighbourhood.
