Marylebone Square, the landmark new development by Concord London, has announced its first independent retailers, marking a significant expansion of the area’s vibrant shopping and lifestyle scene. The new arrivals include Special Guests, Neko Health, USM Modular Furniture, The Cirkel, and a soon-to-be-revealed restaurant concept.
A new retail destination in Marylebone
Transforming the site of a former 1960s car park, Marylebone Square introduces a mixed-use development featuring 79 new homes, a community hall, and a 40,000 sq ft retail space. Designed to complement Marylebone’s existing independent shopping scene, the new retailers will occupy purpose-built spaces that span four streets in the village. Concord London has carefully curated a selection of brands that align with the area’s heritage while adding fresh energy to its retail landscape.
Special Guests brings competition-grade coffee to Marylebone
Two-time UK Barista Championship winner Paul Ross has launched his first dedicated coffee bar, Special Guests, in a 650 sq ft unit on Ayrbrook Street. Established in 2022, the brand focuses on showcasing the world’s finest baristas and producers, offering some of the highest-scoring, competition-grade coffees. The store features a Brew Bar, where customers can take part in guided tasting experiences of rare and unique coffee beans, including exclusive selections only available at Special Guests.
Paul Ross, founder of Special Guests, shared his enthusiasm for the new location, stating, “We’ve been searching for the perfect location for well over five years – one that reflects the ethos of our brand and passion for premium experiences. My philosophy has always been ‘leave experts to the experts,’ where you focus on the one thing you do well and do it exceptionally. This is very much Marylebone’s vibe, with its collection of individual specialists, from cheesemongers to butchers. I think we’ll really complement what it’s already so well known and loved for and cannot wait to become part of the community.”
Neko Health expands into the UK
Following the success of its Stockholm clinic, Neko Health has chosen Marylebone Square for its first UK location. Co-founded in 2018 by Hjalmar Nilsonne and Daniel Ek, the Swedish health-tech company offers an advanced body-scanning process that analyses millions of health data points. The 6,500 sq ft clinic on Vincent Street provides screenings for skin cancers, fat and sugar levels, and other risk factors, followed by consultations with doctors. The London clinic has already seen high demand, with over 35,000 people on its waiting list.
USM Modular Furniture opens in early 2025
Swiss brand USM Modular Furniture, known for its iconic modular designs, will open a new showroom at Marylebone Square in early 2025. Founded in 1885, USM is renowned for its durability, versatility, and timeless aesthetic, making it a favourite among both residential and commercial customers. The move marks a strategic shift for the company, bringing it closer to London’s high-end residential market.
Mirko Müller, CEO of USM, commented, “Moving to Marylebone is a shift in strategy for USM, to align us directly with the high-end residential market. This new site provides excellent amenity space and is a blank canvas for us to tell the unique USM story to a fresh audience, raising the brand profile in one of the most exclusive parts of London that is home to our target customer.”
Sustainable fashion at The Cirkel
Sustainable fashion brand The Cirkel has opened its first long-term pop-up at Marylebone Square, offering a curated selection of women’s fashion designed to be both stylish and environmentally responsible. The brand focuses on affordable, circular fashion, promoting sustainable practices while providing high-quality wardrobe staples.
A new culinary experience coming soon
Marylebone Square will also introduce a brand-new restaurant concept, blending seasonal British ingredients with Japanese culinary techniques. Full details will be revealed later this year, but the restaurant is expected to bring a fresh, innovative dining experience to the area.
Christopher Murray, managing director and co-founder of Concord London, shared his vision for the development, stating, “We are delighted to announce our latest retail offerings at Marylebone Square. After living and working in Marylebone for the past 30 years, I’m deeply committed to contributing to the local community and enhancing its future. These retailers are thoughtfully curated to complement, not compete with, the existing excellence of Marylebone’s retailers.”
