Barbour has become the first brand to use a new British-designed modular retail display system that enables retailers to refresh stores without replacing entire fixture schemes, helping cut the cost, disruption and waste associated with repeated refits.

The ReFrame system, designed, developed and manufactured by Ripple, has made its commercial debut at Blenheim Palace, where it has been used to create a dedicated Barbour retail destination within the visitor attraction’s existing store.

As retailers face increasing pressure to update stores for new product launches, seasonal campaigns and changing customer expectations, many continue to rely on fixed display systems that require costly replacement whenever layouts are refreshed. ReFrame has been developed to help retailers update, scale and reconfigure stores without carrying out a full refit every time.

By retaining the core framework and replacing only the merchandising elements, the premium system helps reduce repeated refits, wasted fixtures, installation time, long-term costs and disruption to trading, while supporting faster, more consistent roll-outs across single stores and national retail estates.

At Blenheim Palace, ReFrame has been used to create a dedicated Barbour retail destination that maximises product visibility while complementing the heritage setting of one of Britain’s best-known visitor attractions. The installation comprises a three-bay wall display, gondola units and display tables, creating a flexible retail space that can be reconfigured easily as product ranges and seasonal collections change.

Incorporating four core elements – the framework, finishes, modules and accessories – the system can be configured using shelving, display tables, counters, clothing rails, hooks, light boxes, illuminated screens, back panels and a wide range of interchangeable accessories.

Manufactured in Britain using commercial-grade materials, the system is available in a wide choice of finishes, colours and surface materials, with standard modular components complemented by bespoke branding, layouts and accessories.

Designed for individual stores and concessions to multi-site retail roll-outs, ReFrame can typically be installed by a two-person team between one and four hours, depending on the size of the project, helping minimise disruption during installation and future store updates.

“Retailers are refreshing stores more frequently than ever before, but many are still replacing perfectly good fixtures every time layouts change. We developed ReFrame to offer a more flexible alternative. By retaining the core framework and changing only the merchandising elements, retailers can adapt stores quickly, reduce waste, minimise disruption and protect their investment for the long term.

The first commercial use of ReFrame within the Barbour retail space at Blenheim Palace demonstrates how the system can deliver a premium branded retail environment that is designed to adapt over time.”

David Wolfenden, Managing Director of Ripple

“We’d been looking for some time for new fixtures and fittings for our Barbour retail space, but we were struggling to find a solution that offered the quality and flexibility we needed.

The installation process was incredibly smooth, with most of the units pre-assembled, so the whole display was installed and ready within just a few hours.
The finished result has completely elevated the clothing area, creating a professional retail environment that both our staff and senior management team love.

Customers can now see the products much more clearly, making the space easier to shop. The flexibility of the system is a real advantage too. We can easily add or remove shelving, reposition display arms and adapt the layout as our stock changes. It’s a high-quality solution that offers excellent value for money, and I’d happily recommend it to other retailers.”

Judy Bendall, Head of Retail at Blenheim Palace

Developed over the past three years, ReFrame draws on Ripple’s decades of experience in retail design and manufacturing and is now available nationwide for retailers, brands, visitor attractions and shop-in-shop environments.
