Zurich-based bag maker FREITAG has announced the opening of a temporary Mini Market Pop-Up at Dover Street Market Ginza, running from 8 to 24 August. The installation is located on the store’s fifth floor and draws inspiration from the look and feel of a fresh fruit supermarket.

The display uses a shelving system repurposed from previous applications, in line with FREITAG’s approach to circularity and design resourcefulness. This temporary retail space will house a selection of the brand’s bags and backpacks, all produced from reclaimed truck tarpaulins.

Each piece available at the pop-up is unique, cut from different sections of the tarps to create individual patterns and colour combinations. According to the brand, this process ensures that no two items are the same, reinforcing its long-standing focus on one-off products.

The collaboration brings the Swiss label’s distinctive products into the setting of Dover Street Market, a retail environment recognised for blending high fashion with streetwear and presenting its collections through experimental, art-focused displays. The store’s approach aligns with FREITAG’s emphasis on distinctive design and reimagined materials.

The Mini Market Pop-Up offers an opportunity for visitors in Tokyo to see FREITAG’s products in a curated space that merges commercial presentation with conceptual installation. By framing its products within a supermarket-inspired display, the brand aims to highlight the accessibility of its functional designs while remaining consistent with its sustainable production values.
