Lakeside has unveiled Brompton Arcade, formerly Brompton Walk, as a repositioned space for independent businesses, local entrepreneurs and experience-led operators.

The destination, owned and operated by SGS UK Retail, is the UKโ€™s sixth-ranked out-of-town super-regional destination. The new identity for Brompton Arcade marks the latest stage in Lakesideโ€™s evolution under SGSโ€™s leadership.

Located on Level 2, Brompton Arcade acts as a gateway to the lake and Lakesideโ€™s growing programme of sporting, leisure and outdoor activations. Its revised positioning is intended to support independent and experience-led brands by giving them greater visibility, operational support and access to the destinationโ€™s annual footfall of 17 million visitors.

Independent and local operators will trade alongside established brands including FLANNELS, Reiss and Beaverbrooks. Placemaking changes include new seating, extensive planting and a programme of creative activations, including changing community art installations.

Part Of Lakesideโ€™s Wider Transformation

The repositioning forms part of a wider transformation programme at Lakeside, which is intended to expand the breadth of the offer in line with its super-regional status. The destination has seen ยฃ100 million of tenant investment over the past three years, including ยฃ30 million in the past six months.

The investment is designed to support the needs of Lakesideโ€™s 8.5 million catchment within one hourโ€™s drive, provide greater visitor choice, establish the destination as a social hub and make greater use of the lake as a point of difference. SGSโ€™s ongoing investment reflects a broader focus on spaces that support individuality, community and collaboration.

Open Day For Independent Operators

Lakeside will host an Open Day for Brompton Arcade on Tuesday 30 June. The event is aimed at independent, experience-led brands and workspace concepts that want to meet leasing teams and explore opportunities within the Arcade.

โ€œBrompton Arcade represents an exciting new chapter for Lakeside, reflecting our ambition to create a destination that champions independent businesses and entrepreneurial talent. Through significant investment, weโ€™re creating a renewed identity for the Arcade, one that combines unparallelled visibility with a strong sense of community and collaboration. Our Open Day presents a unique opportunity for ambitious operators looking to grow their business and become part of Lakesideโ€™s long-term vision.โ€

New Retail Openings

The announcement comes as Lakeside continues to build momentum around its wider tenant mix. Inditex-owned Lefties is due to open a 58,000 sq ft flagship store this autumn, while Hollister, Bershka, Urban Outfitters, Space NK, PURESEOUL and Oliver Bonas are all scheduled to open this summer.

The additions are expected to support forecast sales growth of 8% in 2026, reinforcing Lakesideโ€™s strategy to increase customer choice and maintain an evolving retail offer.

Smith Young and LM are Lakesideโ€™s retail leasing agents, while Metis and LM lead leisure leasing. Pradera asset manages Lakeside on behalf of SGS UK Retail.
