Fremlin Walk, a prominent retail destination in Maidstone’s town centre, has announced a substantial lease agreement with Frasers Group. This deal involves a comprehensive transformation of the existing House of Fraser unit into a state-of-the-art flagship store. The refurbished space, spanning 101,921 sq ft, will amalgamate renowned brands such as Flannels and Sports Direct, enhancing the shopping experience for Kent residents.

This strategic move by Frasers Group adds Maidstone to its exclusive list of locations hosting Frasers concept stores. With just over eight of these innovative retail spaces across the UK, the Maidstone outlet is poised to bring a unique mix of aspirational brands and an immersive shopping environment to the area.

In preparation for the transformation, the current House of Fraser store at Fremlin Walk will temporarily shut its doors from March 30th, with a grand reopening scheduled for Autumn 2024. This refurbishment underscores Frasers Group’s renewed commitment to Fremlin Walk and highlights the continuing demand from major retailers for premium space within the shopping centre.

Fremlin Walk, home to other popular brands like JD Sports, H&M, Waterstones, River Island, and Superdry, is actively enhancing its retail and dining offerings. Following numerous lease renewals in 2023, discussions are underway with several prospective brands, aiming to leverage the centre’s prime location in Maidstone.

Kerry Williams, Portfolio Director for M&G Real Estate, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: “We are delighted that Frasers Group has not only committed its long-term future to Fremlin Walk, but also selected Maidstone as a location for one of its new flagship concept stores. House of Fraser has been a key footfall driver for the town centre for several years, and we firmly believe that this new enhanced store will attract shoppers from across Kent.”

David Legat from Knight Frank also commented on the development: “Completing this flagship letting and bringing the three incredible brands of Frasers, Sports Direct, and Flannels to Fremlin Walk secures the scheme as a retail-led destination long into the future. Fremlin Walk has now firmly cemented its position as the centre of Maidstone. We look forward to building on this success and announcing more exciting brands to our line up in the near future.”

Knight Frank and Green Partners continue as the retained letting agents for Fremlin Walk, signifying a robust and evolving retail environment in Maidstone’s town centre.
