Virgin Media O2 has opened a new store at Liverpool ONE, bringing together mobile, broadband and connected technology in a 1,900 sq ft space on the upper level of the destination.

The store has been designed to showcase Virgin Media O2’s products and services in an open, hands-on environment, with customer service positioned as a central part of the in-store experience at Liverpool ONE. Dedicated advisors will support both new and existing customers, handling queries ranging from billing and account support to assistance for vulnerable customers or those with more complex needs.

The opening forms part of Virgin Media O2’s wider commitment to providing more personalised and accessible support, giving customers the opportunity to receive help in person.

To mark the launch, Virgin Media O2 is running an in-store experience and prize draw. Visitors can enter for the chance to win one of two signed Liverpool FC shirts by taking part in an interactive quiz focused on Liverpool FC and Priority from O2. The signed shirts will also be displayed in store.

Discovery Zones

The shop is arranged around a series of discovery zones within an open-plan layout, allowing customers to test Virgin Media O2 products alongside gaming and entertainment technology. Expert technology advisors will be available to answer questions.

The Ultimate Gaming Zone follows the success of Virgin Media Gamepad at The O2, which is visited by tens of thousands of visitors each year. Store guests will be able to try VR and AR gaming experiences, as well as the latest consoles.

The Priority from O2 zone introduces customers to Virgin Media O2’s customer rewards programme, Priority, which is available to all customers and offers average savings of £500 per year. Members can also access selected gig tickets 48 hours before general sale.

A TV and broadband zone demonstrates Virgin Media O2’s broadband and TV services, including streaming, on-demand entertainment and gigabit connectivity in the home. A Meta zone showcases virtual reality and smart technology powered by Virgin Media’s broadband.

The store will also provide a recycling point for old or unwanted electronics, including mobile phones, earphones, wearable technology and cables, supporting the company’s wider sustainability targets.

“Opening our new store here in Liverpool is a really exciting moment for us. Liverpool ONE is at the heart of the city’s shopping and social scene, so it’s the perfect place to bring our latest products and services closer to the local community. We’re committed to giving customers a great in-store experience where they can explore, learn and get support face-to-face.
“Over the past year, we’ve invested heavily in upgrading our stores across the UK, and Liverpool is a key part of that journey. As we continue to invest in the future, including launching new tools to support our colleagues, we’re committed to providing brilliant service for our customers across the region.”

Will Houldsworth, Director of Retail, Virgin Media O2

Community And Sustainability Measures

As part of Virgin Media O2’s commitment to supporting the local community, the store will also operate as a National Databank hub. It joins more than 300 other stores where people experiencing data poverty can receive a free O2 SIM with 25GB of monthly data, plus texts and calls for 12 months.

Virgin Media O2 said it adopted a sustainable approach to the design and construction of the store, incorporating recycled and responsibly sourced materials and prioritising energy efficiency through smart LED lighting and low-energy screens.
