Peel Retail & Leisure has revealed that Moss, a notable UK menswear retailer, has selected Gloucester Quays for its newest store location, which will open its doors on Saturday, 4th May 2024. This development is part of a series of enhancements at Gloucester Quays, which is marking its 15th anniversary with significant retail activities including the expansion of Skechers, a globally recognised lifestyle and athletic footwear brand.
Moss, making its first appearance in Gloucester, will introduce its extensive tailoring experience and a refreshed brand approach that includes a shift from its previous ‘Bros’ identity to a more contemporary ‘Moss’. This rebranding aligns with its evolution into a versatile omni-channel retailer, extending beyond traditional hire and formalwear. The upcoming 1,948 sq ft store will showcase Moss’ SS24 collection, which emphasises relaxed tailoring suitable for casual summer settings. Additionally, the store will cater to the increasing demand for versatile suiting options for various occasions, supported by an in-house team of stylists and Moss’ Custom Made tailoring service.
In a significant upgrade, Skechers is set to inaugurate a new 4,500 sq ft store in June, located directly opposite Moss and Timberland. This new unit will be 50% larger than its current premises, enhancing Skechers’ extensive range of footwear that features innovative comfort technologies suitable for both sports and casual wear. Moreover, Raging Bull, a sport-inspired clothing brand, has also relocated to a new 1,400 sq ft unit within the outlet.
Paul Carter, Asset Director at Peel Retail & Leisure, commented on the ongoing developments, “Gloucester Quays continues to attract prominent retailers. The introduction of brands like Moss and the expansion by existing tenants such as Skechers underscore the outlet’s sustained popularity as a premier retail location. Our focus on responding to consumer trends and refreshing our retail mix has been integral to our strategy for the past 15 years, contributing to Gloucester Quays’ ongoing success.”
Brian Brick, CEO of Moss, expressed enthusiasm about the new store: “This store embodies Moss’s current ethos of modernity, diversity, and accessibility. With 173 years of tailoring heritage, we’re presenting our most contemporary collection yet, encompassing both refined casual styles and formal wear, making Moss a versatile destination for all menswear needs. We’re eager to introduce this new concept to our customers in the southwest.”
Moss has chosen Gloucester Quays for its latest store opening on May 4th, 2024
The surge in retail activity at Gloucester Quays is in line with the outlet’s record sales and footfall figures reported for the period from April 2023 to March 2024, which saw increases of 11% and 7% respectively. Celebrating its 15th anniversary this year, Gloucester Quays has evolved from a new regional destination in 2009 to being ranked among the top 10 UK retail and leisure outlets, maintaining a strong performance record.
