Legion Technologies, a leading innovator in workforce management (WFM), today announced the appointment of Marcus Beaver, who joins as Strategic Advisor to the CEO, to support the business as it scales and expands across the United Kingdom and Europe.
Recognised as a leader in the Human Resources and Payroll technology and services sectors, Marcus was most recently the Country Leader for UK & Ireland at Strada, a leader in Payroll and human capital management (HCM) services. Marcus led the growth of the UKI business for 4 years, advising on HR and Payroll transformation consulting, systems implementation, change management, application management services (AMS), and outsourcing.

As well as his extensive knowledge of the HR and Payroll landscape, developed over 25 years having held senior roles at Accenture, KPMG and Oracle, Marcus brings strong relationships and experience of partnering with SAP, Workday and Oracle, and with many of Legion’s technology and services partners. Marcus will leverage this wealth of experience in his strategic advisory role, where he will be primarily responsible for helping to build and scale Legion’s presence across the UK and Europe, following a $50 million growth-round investment, led by Riverwood Capital in 2024.
As UK and European retail & hospitality, healthcare and services businesses face ongoing challenges, including increased operational costs and staff shortages, employers face growing pressures to attract, retain and engage frontline workers. A third (33%) of UK businesses report they plan to reduce headcount in response to April’s increase in employers’ national insurance contributions (NICs), with one in five (20%) having already cut jobs1. Additionally, UK Hospitality has warned the increases to payroll costs will see the sector’s wage bill rise by £3.2 billion.
However, businesses that embrace AI-powered WFM solutions not only reduce inefficiencies and cut costs but also improve job satisfaction, increase retention and gain a lasting competitive advantage in the evolving and competitive labour market.
“There is great potential for Legion in the European market with its genuinely unique WFM platform that takes forecasting and scheduling beyond the typical time management and rostering capabilities of legacy platforms. Having met with customers who have already deployed Legion into complex and labour-intensive industries, I’ve heard firsthand the significant benefits they’ve achieved by leveraging AI and WFM to optimise labour efficiency whilst simultaneously improving the employee experience,” Marcus commented.
Original research of over 1,000 UK retail and hospitality workers in Legion’s 2025 State of the UK Hourly Workforce report showed that 63% of hourly employees plan to leave their jobs within the next 12 months, rising to 79% of workers aged 18-24, with flexibility and pay being identified as the primary issues driving employee turnover.
Sanish Mondkar, Founder and CEO of Legion, commented: “Marcus joins our team at a critical moment as UK and European employers face an urgent turnover and cost crisis. But by investing in technology to raise productivity and embracing AI-powered workforce management those in the retail & hospitality, healthcare and business services sectors can unlock labour efficiency and protect profits in a sustainable way. Those who invest in their workforce now stand to emerge stronger, with lower costs and a more resilient team, ready to thrive when conditions improve.”
Marcus will be speaking at the Hybrid People 1st Leaders Exchange Breakfast on July 10, 2025, in London. Hosted by People 1st in partnership with Legion, the event brings together HR and WFM leaders to discuss how AI can reduce labour costs, boost efficiency, and future-proof workforce planning.
