Danish homewares retailer Søstrene Grene will open its 400th store worldwide at Manchester Arndale on Thursday 26 March, marking a milestone as the business accelerates expansion across the UK.
The Manchester launch represents the retailer’s sixth UK store opening of 2026 and follows a year of sustained growth. In 2025, Søstrene Grene opened 22 new stores across the UK, with one third of all global store openings taking place in the market. The business now operates more than 70 UK stores and is targeting 100 nationwide by the end of 2027.

The UK has been a key contributor to overall financial performance. In its 2024/25 financial year, Søstrene Grene reported turnover growth of 31%, with UK revenue increasing by 130%, supported by new store openings and continued customer demand.
Infrastructure Investment Supports Growth
The Manchester Arndale store will create local employment opportunities and further strengthen the retailer’s presence in high-footfall regional cities, in line with its strategy to scale in core UK markets.
Expansion is being supported by investment in infrastructure and technology. A 45,000 sq m automated logistics centre in the Netherlands has been completed as part of a £36 million investment programme, increasing supply-chain capacity to support international growth. At the same time, SAP is being rolled out across global operations to enhance scalability, operational efficiency and consistency across the growing store network.
“Opening our 400th store across markets is an important milestone for Søstrene Grene and reflects the scale the business has now reached internationally. In the UK, demand continues to be particularly strong, with more than 70 stores trading and a pace of openings that has accelerated over the past year. This makes it even more wonderful to be opening our 400th store in the UK as this also reflects our confidence in this market as we move towards 100 UK locations by the end of 2027.”

The retailer reports continued strong customer engagement across both UK and international locations, driven by demand for affordable, design-led homewares. Alongside UK growth, the business is strengthening its wider European presence, with Italy and Poland set to be added to its portfolio this year as part of a long-term expansion strategy.
