UNIQLO has opened the doors to its new store in Birmingham’s Bullring today, Thursday 16 October. The latest addition to its UK portfolio marks a significant move into the Midlands, with the location offering a three-level retail space totalling approximately 1,000 square metres.

Positioned within Birmingham’s central shopping district, the new store brings the brand’s entire range under one roof. According to Alessandro Dudech, Chief Operating Officer at UNIQLO U.K., “Located in the heart of Birmingham’s vibrant shopping district, our new Bullring store provides the ideal setting to present our LifeWear collection to the city’s wonderfully diverse community. It also allows us the opportunity to collaborate with local creatives and organisations that truly reflect Birmingham’s distinctive character.”

Designed for interaction and creativity

The Bullring store places emphasis on immersive and community-oriented experiences. A striking three-floor mural, designed by Birmingham-based artists UUendy Lau and Hinz Pak, spans the internal staircase and was created as a visual tribute to the city’s people and identity. The same artists have also contributed to a line of limited-edition T-shirt and embroidery designs available for customisation in-store.

Located on the second floor, the UTme! station offers customers the opportunity to personalise garments. In celebration of the new store, several Birmingham creatives have been invited to collaborate on exclusive design options. These include Lau and Pak, independent children’s bookshop How Brave Is the Wren, and Girls On The Go x The Henna Gateway, which has produced artwork inspired by its local network and cultural roots.

Local partnerships

UNIQLO has partnered with a range of local organisations to enhance the store’s role as a community hub. On the first floor, the KIDS & BABIES section now includes a dedicated reading space developed in collaboration with How Brave Is the Wren, with Storytime sessions running every Saturday through October and November.

Following earlier collaboration in Liverpool, UNIQLO has extended its relationship with Girls On The Go. The group, which supports women’s health and empowerment, will be running inclusive weekly events within the store and hosting a city walk over the opening weekend.

Also announced is a long-term partnership with Smart Works, a UK charity focused on helping women into employment. As part of this effort, UNIQLO will provide professional clothing to Smart Works’ wardrobes, supply volunteers from its Birmingham team, and support ongoing donation campaigns.

The Birmingham Bullring store becomes UNIQLO’s 24th UK location, and forms part of a broader regional expansion strategy. New stores are scheduled to open in Leeds and Bristol in 2026.
