Currys has confirmed the nationwide implementation of Auror crime reporting platform across all its United Kingdom and Ireland stores, following a successful twelve week trial in two regions. The announcement highlights the retailer’s commitment to bolstering store safety and preventing criminal activity.
During the trial period, twenty stores deployed the platform and recorded notable outcomes. Currys identified ten repeat offenders and reported three arrests directly attributed to the system’s usage. In addition, the trial is credited with averting stock loss valued at over £20000, supporting the decision to proceed with a wider rollout.

The move aligns with Currys’ broader safety strategy. Earlier this year, the retailer announced its largest annual investment in store safety initiatives. Since that announcement, reported incidents of aggressive theft have decreased by 58 per cent year on year.
Auror’s software is designed to enhance the reliability and expedience of crime reporting. It enables store teams to record detailed information about incidents and suspects in a secure environment. These data are then cross referenced with offences nationwide, giving store employees real time insights into evolving threats. Additionally, law enforcement agencies gain richer intelligence to assist in investigations.
Before Auror, Currys’ store colleagues relied on disparate channels such as emails and messaging apps to report incidents. The new system replaces these fragmented methods with a centralised and secure process. Store staff are encouraged to provide either a police or crime reference number when filing reports, along with detailed descriptions and images. This approach is intended to improve intelligence linking and help detect patterns of behaviour across multiple locations.
Currys has emphasised its dedication to colleague safety through this initiative, highlighting the practical benefits realised during the trial. According to Lindsay Haselhurst, Chief Operating Officer at Currys, “The rollout of the Auror platform across all our UK and Ireland stores marks another important step in our commitment to making our stores a safer place to work and shop. This technology has already helped us identify repeat offenders, prevent stock loss, and support police investigations more effectively. By transforming how we capture and share intelligence, we’re building a smarter, faster, and more unified approach to tackling retail crime.”
Auror’s role in enhancing crime reporting methodology has been similarly endorsed from within the company. Nick McDonnell, Senior Director Trust and Safety at the provider, stated: “Auror’s software has modernised the crime reporting process for retailers, helping them to identify the repeat offenders, and better collaborate with law enforcement to keep their stores and communities safe. We help thousands of retailers and law enforcement partners around the world to address retail crime in their communities and we are excited to continue this work in the UK with Currys. We know the top 10 per cent of offenders were responsible for more than 65 per cent of crime in retail across the UK last year, and globally, one in every 10 retail crime events involve violence or weapons, as recorded by our retailers. Retail crime is not victimless – it’s often violent, threatening and organised. It impacts our communities, our frontline workers and robs our high streets and town centres of their vibrancy. We’re proud to support Currys in improving colleague safety and making their stores and communities safer for all.”
By removing inefficient communication methods such as emails and messaging apps, the platform ensures all relevant parties have instant access to critical information. It is anticipated that the centralised system will shorten response times and improve coordination between stores and police forces.
With the national rollout now underway, Auror’s technology will be available to hundreds of Currys outlets. Store teams will continue to provide comprehensive reporting including reference numbers, descriptions and images to enhance detection of repeat offenders and crime hotspots.
The collaboration between Currys and Auror signifies a broader shift in retail crime prevention, emphasising data intelligence and coordination. As the new system becomes part of standard operational procedures, both Currys staff and customers stand to benefit from increased security and more consistent engagement with law enforcement.
The long term impact of this rollout may include further reductions in store crime, improved tracking of offenders, and a replicable model for other large retailers seeking to upgrade their safety measures. Given the early success and measurable outcomes of the trial, Currys appears poised to set a benchmark in retail sector safety.
