The modernised Greater Manchester store forms part of Footasylum’s continued investment in high-footfall retail destinations, following recent launches at Manchester Arndale and Trinity Leeds.
The upgraded Trafford Centre store spans 17,178 sq ft and is expected to create 14 local jobs. Footasylum said the centre’s footfall, retail mix and alignment with its customer profile make it one of the company’s most valuable retail spaces.
The investment builds on the commercial momentum demonstrated at Manchester Arndale and reflects the importance of Manchester and the North of England within Footasylum’s wider retail strategy.
Home to more than 200 shops and restaurants, the Trafford Centre is increasingly positioned around experiential retail and community activation. Footasylum said these characteristics align with its hyper-local and omnichannel approach. The Trafford Centre’s “Escape Ordinary” positioning is also described as complementary to Footasylum’s “Defy Ordinary” mindset.
The Trafford Centre reopening comes during a period of wider activity for Footasylum. The business recently appointed Hannah Mercer as Chief Executive Officer and has expanded internationally across the DACH and Gulf regions. It has also secured increased funding from HSBC UK to support its store rollout, expanded its warehousing capacity and announced a strategic partnership with British streetwear brand Trapstar.
“The launch of our newly upgraded Trafford Centre store is another landmark moment for Footasylum in our UK expansion plan, as we continue to invest in high-impact, high-performing locations. As a company defined by setting trends and offering our customers the best experiences, we are thrilled to be offering customers another glimpse into what the future holds for Footasylum. This is an innovative retail destination that will allow us to deepen our connection with our already highly engaged Manchester audience, while also welcoming new customers who travel from far and wide to experience everything the Trafford Centre has to offer.”

The reopening adds to Footasylum’s recent programme of store upgrades, openings and regional investment across the UK.
